Yet, looking at Philip, he seemed exceptionally confident in Stellaris PharmaTech's safety, as if he knew the place inside and out.
After a brief silence, Melanie didn't press the issue and walked alone into the grand, imposing lobby of the Stellaris headquarters.
Watching her go, Philip exhaled a heavy breath. Protecting Melanie was infinitely more stressful than guarding Preston.
Thankfully, she was safely inside Stellaris now. He didn't follow her in for two reasons: first, both the top executives of the company would personally ensure her safety. Second, he was afraid of being recognized and causing unnecessary complications. A lot of people inside Stellaris knew exactly who he was.
Honestly, Philip didn't entirely understand why Preston was still keeping his identity as the head of Stellaris a secret from Melanie. He had been helping Preston investigate the tragic accident involving Melanie’s biological mother from four years ago. From what Philip could tell, the evidence was flimsy at best, mostly consisting of vague, circumstantial details.
Preston, however, was deeply concerned about the fallout.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Philip took another deep breath and let it out slowly.
Maybe... Melanie cared about it just as much.
Inside Stellaris PharmaTech.
Melanie took the elevator up to the twelfth floor, the dedicated hub for the R&D Department.
It was an unusually sweltering day. Even though they hadn't hit the peak of summer, the heat was suffocating. Fortunately, the building's central air conditioning was phenomenal, breathing life back into Melanie the moment she stepped off the elevator.
She was scheduled to meet with Regina Lane, the head of R&D Team 1. Regina wasn't exactly known for her warm personality, but her professional competence was legendary, earning her immense respect across the department.
