"What do you think you're doing?" Regina demanded, her eyes wide with shock.
The intruders were all dressed in sharp business suits, both men and women. Every single one of them wore a Stellaris ID badge clipped to their lapels. It was obvious they were company employees; with this level of security, outsiders could never have made it this far.
Regina knew that, of course. But that was exactly why she was so furious. They were Stellaris employees, but they definitely weren't from the R&D Department. Even when her department held large meetings, they never crammed this many people into one room. R&D's sole focus was scientific research, so meetings usually only involved team leaders, deputies, and specific project managers.
Regina watched in disbelief as the crowd filed in like an army occupying enemy territory, immediately claiming the chairs. There were far too many of them, leaving half the group standing against the walls.
"What is the meaning of this?" Regina snapped, utterly bewildered.
Beside her, Melanie looked equally confused but chose to stay quiet. This was an internal company dispute; it wasn't her place to intervene.
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room shifted. The air grew thick with tension.
Once all the suited men and women had taken their places, a final figure strolled leisurely through the door, timing her entrance like the star of the show.
Elara Bennett?
Melanie’s eyes widened in surprise.
Elara clearly spotted Melanie immediately. For a fleeting second, their gazes locked. Melanie's eyes held a mixture of confusion and probing curiosity, while Elara's stare was entirely cold and arrogant.
