She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 732

The sandwich vanished in the blink of an eye. When he looked up, Melanie shoved two more jam-slathered slices at him.

Mumbling another “thank you,” Preston buried his head and kept eating.

By the end of it, he had inhaled the entire loaf of bread she had just bought. She hadn't managed to get a single bite.

“You're fed. Now, out.”

Melanie gestured sharply toward the door.

Preston stood up but didn't budge.

He silently surveyed her small apartment.

There was definitely only one bedroom.

But there was a sofa.

“Philip forgot to mention the apartment he rented was a concrete box. Could I... just sleep on the couch tonight?”

He gestured pitifully at the cramped sofa in the corner.

Melanie crossed her arms and scowled.

Considering Philip's efficiency and Preston's endless bank account, sleeping on her couch was by no means his only option.

Under her scathing glare, Preston looked down guiltily.

“Fine. Since you got yourself injured saving me, you can have the couch for one night.”

Preston exhaled a massive sigh of relief.

Even if she still refused to listen to his explanation.

The fact that she was speaking to him and letting him stay meant she didn't despise him entirely.

Having sorted out his sleeping arrangements, Melanie turned to head into her bedroom.

“Wait.”

He grabbed her wrist.

Even through the white gloves, the blistering heat of his palm seared right into her skin.

It was the first time his touch had felt so overwhelmingly hot.

She didn't yank her arm away immediately.

But Preston felt her body go entirely rigid.

He let go, his fingertips lingering as if starved for the contact.
