She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 757

"Oh, Mrs. Logan said she saw you coming home with a woman, but I didn't believe it! I didn't expect you really to have a woman..."

Aggie Miller's face twisted into a mocking sneer as her eyes raked over Melanie.

Melanie was breathtakingly beautiful and dressed in designer clothes—clearly not a local from Lowell Plain.

Coupled with Preston's scarred face, no woman would ever willingly look his way.

Because of that, the insult "little tramp" died on Aggie's lips.

"And what exactly does a lady like you want with our Mutt?"

Hearing a man called by such a derogatory name for the first time, Melanie instinctively glanced at Preston.

Preston knew she was looking at him.

He deliberately avoided her gaze.

He kept his head down, letting his overgrown bangs hide the dark birthmark on his face.

His arms hung rigid at his sides, fists clenched so tightly the veins bulged against his skin.

When Melanie remained silent, Aggie couldn't figure out their relationship and turned her fury back on Preston.

"Director Briggs said you didn't even show up for work today! What the hell are you thinking? You make fifty bucks a day, and they dock you a hundred for skipping! We don't have that kind of cash to cover your lazy ass. You better get on your knees and beg Director Briggs for your job back! I raised you all these years, and you're more useless than trash..."

Aggie still hadn't vented enough of her rage and turned her venomous glare back to Melanie.

"Listen here, lady. I don't know who you are or where you came from, but you just cost Mutt his day's pay, and you're gonna compensate us! He's losing a hundred bucks. He didn't come home last night, didn't cook for me and his dad, didn't do the dishes, and—"

"Mom, stop it!" Preston let out a guttural growl.

Aggie immediately snatched a brick off the ground and raised it high.
