She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 863

Meeting Preston Whitmore's teasing gaze, Melanie Royce playfully slapped his arm. "Are you holding a grudge against me now?"

Preston smiled. "I just want you to know... whenever you need me, just ask. You don't have to hesitate."

His smile faded, and his gaze turned deeply serious as he looked at her.

"Whether we're together or not, and whether the person you want me to help is my rival... I'll support you unconditionally in whatever you want to do."

He spoke with absolute calm, yet his words sent a tidal wave of emotion crashing through Melanie's heart.

"Preston, I..."

Just as she was about to speak, a loud voice echoed from down the hall.

"Preston! Melanie! I made it!"

Gabriel Whitmore sprinted over, skidding to a halt right in front of them.

Instantly, Preston's naturally serious face shifted into a terrifying, predatory glare.

Gabriel shuddered. "What? Did I say something wrong?"

He pointed a finger at his own nose.

All he did was call out their names!

His brain spun into overdrive, desperately analyzing which of his few words had pissed Preston off so badly.

Preston turned his attention back to Melanie. "What were you going to say?"

She waved her hand dismissively. "Forget it. It's nothing."

At that, Preston's expression grew even more murderous, shooting Gabriel a look so dark that the younger man instinctively shrank back.

Ah... he had interrupted their private moment.

But honestly...

Wasn't flirting in a hospital hallway a bit much?

"Uh... is it too late for me to leave?"

Gabriel turned to flee, but Preston snatched him by the back of his collar.

Just then, a doctor hurried over, clutching a clipboard.

It was Director Marcelline of Stellaris General Hospital.

If the director couldn't diagnose it...

That meant...

It wasn't a cold at all.

But if it wasn't a cold, what the hell was it?

He tilted his head, rubbing his nose in confusion.

Director Marcelline knew perfectly well that Elina was a VIP patient brought in by the boss himself, and they had to throw every resource at the case.

Yet...

There were some things that simply defied modern medicine.

While the director frantically tried to explain the situation to Gabriel, Preston pulled out his phone and made a call.

"Well, well, look who it is! What made you think of me? Let's get one thing straight—Melanie dumping you has absolutely nothing to do with me. If you called just to chew me out, I'm hanging up."

Elias Carter's voice rang out through the receiver, loud and uncompromising.
