The first person to detonate was Cora!
"Hulda! You absolute bitch!"
Earlier back at the house, Cora had seen the photo on Sylvie's phone of Hulda standing with Justin Jameson in a hotel lobby, and she had practically wanted to rip Hulda to shreds.
Now, hearing that Miles had snuck out into the dead of night specifically because Hulda had ignored him, Cora's hatred for her skyrocketed to a violent peak.
Fueled by Sylvie's venomous little speech, Cora's eyes turned bloodshot. Looking like an absolute demon, she lunged as if she wanted to devour Hulda alive.
"I'm going to kill you!"
Cora threw herself savagely at Hulda, but thankfully, the police were right there.
Officer Coleman and his two deputies instantly stepped in, wrestling Cora back and restraining her.
Cora's gaze remained locked in a death stare on Hulda's face. "You don't even deserve to be his mother! You're nothing but a cheap whore who sleeps around! Seven years ago, you seduced my brother and trapped him into marrying you, and now you're out seducing other men! You have zero shame, and now you've gotten Miles killed!"
She thrashed and twisted wildly against the officers, desperate for even an inch of leverage to lunge at Hulda again.
Wade and Valery, people who had spent their entire lives obsessed with maintaining their dignified image, didn't even try to stop their daughter's psychotic meltdown. Instead, they glared at Hulda with ice-cold fury.
Whatever shred of guilt they might have felt over the alimony dispute was entirely gone.
