She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 376

Inside the blood donation room, the nurse swabbed Hulda's arm with alcohol, stealing complicated glances at her.

Behind them, two other nurses were huddled together, whispering.

"Is that her?"

"Yeah, that's her."

"So pathetic. Raising a son for six years only to find out he isn't even hers."

"From what I heard, the husband's family is pure garbage. The guy found some other woman, and she's totally toxic too. I bet the husband was cheating."

"My god, what kind of monsters are they? Don't the elders step in at all?"

"Step in? Didn't you see? His mom clearly knew her daughter swapped the babies. She was actively covering it up out there."

"If the kid hadn't been literally dying, they probably would've kept it hidden forever!"

"Of course they would! O Rh-negative blood is incredibly rare. The kid's blood type matches..." The nurse shot a glance at Hulda. "Matches hers exactly. No one would ever suspect the child wasn't theirs..."

"Enough! Don't you all have jobs to do? Get back to work!" The nurse drawing Hulda's blood snapped at her gossiping coworkers.

She then turned back to Hulda with an incredibly apologetic look. "I'm so sorry. Please don't take it to heart."

The words felt painfully hollow. No one who had just experienced something this catastrophic could simply *not take it to heart*. People had been driven to suicide over less.

Hulda kept her eyes lowered, letting the thick needle pierce her arm without a flinch.

She felt completely numb, as if she could no longer register physical pain.

Even so, she had heard every word the two nurses said.

It was true. O Rh-negative was an incredibly rare blood type.

When she woke up from her coma back then, holding a swaddled infant, the doctor had told her the boy was also O Rh-negative. At the time, her worry had outweighed her shock.
