She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 378

Justin was thoroughly bewildered. Normally, he actively repulsed Cora's advances and kept his distance. But today, with the family clearly undergoing some massive catastrophe, and Cora weeping in sheer agony, he couldn't just coldly shove her away. After all, he was Herbert's best friend and treated like an adopted brother by the family.

So, he awkwardly patted her back while looking over at Herbert. "Herbert, what exactly happened here? Is there a complication with Miles? What's going on? We're brothers, tell me. Let me see what I can do to help."

The moment Justin finished speaking, he caught sight of Hulda slowly approaching, her face deathly pale.

His heart lurched. Purely on instinct, he immediately shoved Cora away.

One second Cora was trembling in his embrace, and the next, she was violently pushed back without warning.

Unable to catch her balance, she shrieked and stumbled backward.

She crashed directly into Valery, and the two women tumbled hard onto the floor together.

"H-Hulda, you're here too? Where did you just come from? I didn't see you earlier." Justin looked at her, his normally smooth-talking demeanor suddenly replaced by a flustered stutter.

Hulda merely cast a dead, icy glance at him and walked straight past without a word.

Her face held a terrifying, absolute coldness he had never seen before.

Even during that sham of a wedding between Herbert and Sylvie, she hadn't looked this utterly devoid of life.

So deeply sorrowful, yet so absolutely absolute.

At that moment, everyone's eyes were fixed on the "mother" who had just returned from the blood donation room.

Herbert stared at her, his lips parting and closing silently.

He wanted to tell her that he hadn't known about the swap, that he was in just as much agony as she was.
