She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 379

Everyone held their breath, waiting for Hulda's reaction.

But Hulda just stood there, watching quietly as the medical worker walked away.

Then she stood in front of the operating room doors, staring up at the glowing red sign.

Seeing that she wasn't having a breakdown, a flash of disappointment crossed Sylvie's eyes.

But what none of them realized was that this was merely the calm before the storm.

Finally, the surgery finished, and Miles was rolled into a recovery room.

Because the emergency response and transfusion had been so swift, the surgery was a success, meaning he didn't even need to go to the ICU.

He lay unconscious in the hospital bed. His tiny face was completely drained of color. With multiple fractures across his body, his small frame was immobilized by braces and casts; no one could even touch him.

"Miles! My Miles!" Cora was the first to rush into the room, sprinting straight for the bed. Thankfully, a nurse quickly stopped her, keeping her from throwing herself onto him. She could only stand by the bedside, weeping as she stared at the boy.

Hulda followed behind everyone else, looking at the unconscious little boy from a distance.

That was the child who used to trail behind her every day, sweetly calling her Mom.

The child who used to shove her away in a fit of extreme irritation, screaming that he hated her and didn't want her as his mother.

The child who, whenever he was wronged, always sought her out for comfort first.

And yet, reality had just dictated that he was not her son...

Then... where was her child?

After giving detailed post-op instructions, the medical staff quickly filed out of the room, clearly eager to escape the suffocating tension inside.

All this time, Valery's heart had been pounding, terrified of how Hulda would react after coming back from drawing blood.

But Hulda had remained incredibly quiet. Aside from her expressionless face, she seemed no different than usual.

Just as Valery convinced herself that Hulda wasn't going to have a meltdown, she watched the younger woman blankly push the hospital room door shut.

Instantly, a deep, ominous sense of dread surged in Valery's chest.
