She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 56

Dylan pursed his lips, thoroughly confused.

Didn't the boss already have her number? It was on the divorce papers Conrad had given him.

Oh, wait. I get it.

Conrad had told the boss not to let her know he was the one processing the divorce.

So now the boss needed a legitimate excuse to contact her.

Hulda stared at Caspian's phone for a few seconds before reluctantly typing in her number.

She handed it back. "Is that all?"

He glanced at the screen, then locked it. "Yes, that'll do."

Without another word, Hulda grabbed Sienna's hand and walked away. She didn't even say goodbye.

"Well, Ms. Atherton..." Dylan watched her resolute retreat and clicked his tongue. "She didn't even say bye."

Caspian pulled his gaze away and headed toward the car, muttering under his breath, "Rude."

...

The next morning, Sylvie woke up in her hospital bed, her face completely pale.

Herbert had stayed with her all night. His handsome face was drawn with exhaustion.

Last night, Herbert had personally repaired and engaged the backup power to rescue her, ensuring the company suffered no major losses.

Sylvie stared down at her hands. Behind her red, teary eyes, a dark, calculating look flickered.

Justin's phone call broke the tender atmosphere.

After going over some quick business matters, Justin's voice dropped into a gossipy tone. "Herbert, did you hear? That Fawley kid got locked up last night. And the craziest part? The Fawley family just issued a public statement entirely disowning him. The patriarch has always completely spoiled that boy and covered up all his messes. But this time, he cut him off instantly."

Herbert listened with little interest. Unlike Justin, he didn't care about elite society gossip.

But Justin was deeply invested. "It's insane! I literally saw the guy at the bar last night. Remember, he even came over to toast you? Anyway, rumor has it that he messed with two girls in the alley out back. Apparently, one of them has a background so terrifying that even the Fawley patriarch didn't dare cross her. To save the family business, he threw his own son to the wolves."

"You're saying he messed with two girls at the bar last night?" Herbert's eyes darkened. A sudden memory hit him—Hulda had called him begging for help.
