She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 61

Night fell. In the study, Hulda Atherton finished organizing everything she needed to bring to the institute tomorrow. She stepped over to the window, silently gazing out at the tranquil night and the full moon hanging in the sky.

She couldn't remember the last time she had looked at the moon with such profound peace in her heart.

Pushing the window wide open, she took a deep breath of the cool, crisp night air.

Just then, a car slowly approached from the distance. Its headlights swept across the direction of her study before it gradually drove away.

Hulda recognized it instantly. It was the same car that had inadvertently pulled her out of a spiral of self-doubt not too long ago.

Even though the driver's actions had been unintentional—and they likely had no idea she even existed—she couldn't help but feel a sudden surge of gratitude toward the vehicle and its owner.

Watching the taillights fade into the distance, Hulda felt a refreshing sense of clarity.

Tomorrow would be a completely new beginning!

Inside the car, as they drove past Villa Number One, Dylan still subconsciously glanced up toward the illuminated second-floor window.

This time, he thought he caught a glimpse of a silhouette standing there. And that silhouette looked remarkably like Hulda.

He instinctively checked the rearview mirror to look at his boss.

He caught Caspian Sterling staring blankly in the exact same direction.

"Um, Boss..." Dylan carefully gauged Caspian's expression. "Since you managed to get Ms. Atherton's contact information fair and square, why don't you just reach out to her?"

Caspian slowly turned his head, his expression completely unreadable. His dark eyes locked onto Dylan's through the mirror, and his thin lips parted slightly. "Are you trying to tell me how to do my job?"

Dylan shrank back in his seat, too intimidated to say another word. He just kept stealing glances at the phone clutched tightly in Caspian's hand.

His boss rarely paid attention to his phone, yet today, it hadn't left his grip for a single second.

Of course, Dylan only dared to make that observation in his head.

...

If she waited that long, she was guaranteed to be late.

The worst part was that this was a narrow, two-way street. Even if people wanted to push the luxury car out of the way, there was nowhere for it to go.

Hulda glanced over her shoulder. The cars behind them had already formed a massive line, completely boxing them in.

"This isn't going to work..." she murmured under her breath, her eyes turning serious.

A second later, she opened the door and stepped out.

The driver blinked in surprise. "Ma'am, are you planning to walk to work? Hey, you haven't paid yet!"

"Give me a second, I'll be right back," Hulda told him through the window before walking purposefully toward the front of the line.

After walking about a hundred yards, she spotted a Porsche Panamera sitting horizontally across the middle of the road.

The Panamera was already surrounded by furious drivers from the cars stuck behind it. It was Monday morning, and everyone was desperate to get to work. Frustration and anxiety were written all over their faces as they relentlessly shouted at the owner.
