Justin Jameson stood next to the car, looking just as frustrated as everyone else. "Stop yelling at me! What do you want me to do? You think I planned this? I already called a tow truck!"
"But your tow truck won't be here for over half an hour! When we're all late, who's going to take the blame?"
"Yeah! A rich guy like you might not care, but the rest of us are working stiffs. We get docked pay for every minute we're late!"
"Put it on my tab, then! If anyone docks your pay, come find me!" Justin was fuming. For once, he had actually wanted to get to the office early. He had just been driving along perfectly fine, and out of nowhere, the damn car had died.
Faced with the growing crowd of angry drivers and the deafening chorus of honking horns, Justin wanted to scream. In a fit of rage, he delivered a vicious kick to one of the tires.
Just as he was taking out his anger on the wheel, a familiar female voice sounded from behind him. "Move."
Justin froze. He was already drowning in anxiety and irritation, ready to snap at whichever woman had the audacity to push his buttons right now. He whipped around—only to see Hulda staring at him with a dead-serious expression.
"What are you doing here?"
Hulda hadn't expected the owner of the Panamera blocking the entire road to be Justin, either.
Normally, she wouldn't have bothered getting involved in a mess like this.
But today was different. She was in a hurry to get to the institute.
Without another word, she kept her face perfectly stoic, shoved Justin away from the driver's side door, and slid right into the seat.
"What the hell are you doing, Hulda? This is my car! Get out!" Justin had never liked her. In fact, his feelings bordered on outright disgust.
As far as he was concerned, Hulda was just a manipulative gold digger who had schemed her way into Herbert Jewell's bed. She had managed to marry him, but she was entirely useless—nothing more than a clueless, burdensome housewife holding Herbert back.
Hulda ignored him completely. Sitting in the driver's seat, she turned the key with a focused expression.
"A toolbox. Now!" Hulda snapped, her patience wearing dangerously thin.
By then, another driver had hurried over with a toolbox from his own trunk, asking anxiously, "Will this work?"
Hulda took one look and grabbed it.
Her face an emotionless mask, she swiftly stepped out of the driver's seat and marched straight to the front of the car. Right in front of everyone, she popped the hood.
"Are you out of your mind? What are you doing to my car? Hasn't there been enough chaos already?" Justin finally snapped out of his daze.
He was convinced this woman was deliberately sabotaging him for revenge.
Seeing Hulda leaning halfway into the engine bay, Justin immediately lunged forward, grabbed her wrist, and yanked her back. "What the hell do you think you're doing? Fixing my car? You're a housewife! What could you possibly know about this? If you break it, you have to pay for it. Do you even have the money? Oh wait, Herbert will just have to clean up your mess again!"
