She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 182

"Shera, I..."

Caden frowned slightly, opening his mouth to explain, but Shera cut him off coldly.

"Why didn't you mention that she was the mastermind? You knew all along that none of this was an accident. Why didn't you tell me?"

Caught off guard by her rapid-fire accusations, the man's tone softened defensively.

"I kept it from you back then because..."

Shera viciously threw the envelope right at his face, her voice rising sharply. "I don't want to know! And I don't want to hear your excuses!"

"As for the truth, I'll find it out myself. I don't need you to tell me."

"You've always been an expert at washing your hands of any blame. I don't care about a 'truth' wrapped in lies and secrets."

"Shera, I..."

Caden reached out to touch her, but Shera violently swatted his hand away.

The sheer disgust in her eyes stabbed him straight through the heart.

His chest tightened painfully, making it hard to breathe.

"Caden, I don't deny that Helga is pure evil. But your constant neglect, your blind trust, and your endless enabling are what gave her the power to hurt me."

"Every single hardship and betrayal in my life traces back to you. You are the reason my loved ones and I have been thrown into danger, time and time again."

Caden's eyes turned bloodshot. His eyelashes trembled, and his voice was terribly hoarse.

"I know I was wrong. I finally see my mistakes, Shera. I'm willing to accept any punishment, to take responsibility for all of it."

"But you..."

"But please, don't leave me..."

It felt as though a lump of cotton was jammed in his throat. A single tear he had been holding back finally slipped down his cheek.

His tall, broad frame shuddered. Gripping her shoulders, he slowly slid downward, inch by inch.
