She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 183

Shera furrowed her brows, using all her strength to shove him away, but Caden refused to let go.

"Let go."

"No," the man choked out, his voice unspeakably hoarse. "If I let go, you'll never come back."

"I'll say it one more time. Let go."

Shera's expression darkened, her patience clearly drained to the absolute limit. They remained locked in this stalemate.

Finally, her restraint snapped.

With a deep scowl, she reached into her bag, pulled out a small, razor-sharp pair of fabric scissors, and plunged it mercilessly into his arm.

A violent surge of pain caused Caden to hiss sharply. He clenched his jaw and stared up at her, but his grip didn't loosen in the slightest.

There was a reckless, desperate stubbornness in his eyes.

Shera's hand trembled around the handle of the scissors, her other hand pressing down hard against the wound.

He gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut, holding his breath against the agonizing pain, yet he still wouldn't release her.

In an instant, warm blood mixed with the cold rain, completely soaking her palm.

"Get the hell away from me."

Shera slammed her knee hard into him, shoving him away. Caden's body crashed heavily against the doorframe behind him.

Crimson blood trailed down his wet sleeve, pooling into the rainwater on the ground in a horrifying display.

Shera's lips trembled slightly as she spoke with icy detachment. "Tomorrow morning at ten. I'll be waiting at City Hall."

She bent down, scooped up the soaked envelope, and turned to walk away.

She didn't say another word.

Caden slumped against the doorway, his wet hair plastered in messy strands across his forehead.

He stared blankly at the blood-stained scissors discarded in the puddles, and suddenly, a broken laugh escaped his lips.

Blood drenched his entire arm. He slowly raised his hand; the wedding band that once gleamed so brightly was now smeared in crimson.

Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, and his fingertips twitched from the pain.

He couldn't tell if the agony was coming from his arm or his shattered heart.

His tears mingled with the storm as a bone-chilling cold threatened to swallow him whole.
