She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 179

Helga's eyes instantly turned bloodshot as she choked on her words, frantically grasping for excuses.

"I... I was afraid you were exhausting yourself running back and forth, so I... You told me her father's condition was stable, so I assumed she was just exaggerating."

"You know better than anyone why it was stable!"

Caden held up one of the documents, his voice practically trembling with rage. "The critical condition notice was issued on March 12th! You paid Lucius to bribe the records department and bury it for two days."

The words he spat out felt like shards of ice.

"Those two days were his only chance of survival!"

"And the design competition—while you were playing the sweet friend telling me to help Shera, you were secretly paying Rosalie to hire internet trolls to ruin Evegrace and accuse her of cheating."

"Playing both sides to tear us apart, is that it?"

Helga stumbled backward under his relentless assault, tears streaming down her face.

"And her accident! You might not have told Rosalie to hit her with the car, but you orchestrated the whole thing."

"You weaponized Rosalie's hatred and sent her to stalk Shera, and it resulted in nearly killing her. What makes you any different from a murderer?"

"Caden, it's not like that, Caden!"

Helga finally collapsed under the weight of his accusations, sobbing hysterically. "I never wanted to hurt her!"

"I just saw the way you looked at her! You couldn't take your eyes off her! I was terrified you were actually falling in love with her, so I made a mistake."

She shook her head violently, her voice raw. "But I never wanted anyone to die! I just wanted to force you two apart!"

"You didn't want anyone to die?"

Caden's hands clenched into tight fists. "But you killed him. Not only did you murder her father, but you almost murdered her, too."

Tears poured down Helga's face like a broken string of pearls. She reached out and grabbed his sleeve in a death grip.

"I never wanted her dead, Caden! I was just so jealous of her! I was so afraid you'd never look at me again!"

"We grew up together! We shared the same bed, we ate at the same table! Our parents practically betrothed us when we were kids! In everyone's eyes, we were the ones meant to be together!"
