Hunter selected a few employees from the crowd. "You all saw exactly what happened. Is what Lynn said true?"

With red-rimmed eyes, she spoke softly, "Mr. Hunter, I only did that because Miles gave me the other laptop earlier. I was afraid Quinn might resent me for taking it, so I brought her another one. I wasn't trying to force anything on her."

Hunter maintained a polite, professional smile. "Secretary Winter, so you do realize you took Ms. Avery's laptop?"

"I..."

Jade shot him a frigid glare through her damp eyelashes. "That laptop was a gift from Miles. I didn't 'take' anything."
