On the other end, Quinn urged, "What's the number?"
Catching his boss's dark, warning glare, Hunter didn't dare say it out loud. "M-Mrs. York, I'll text it to your phone."
With that, he hurriedly hung up.
"Mr. York, Mrs. York said it was an emergency regarding Wayne. Shouldn't I give her the number?"
Miles's cold eyes narrowed. "What emergency could she possibly have?"
"Maybe there was an issue with the data recovery from last time?"
Miles's dark gaze grew as cold as a winter mist. "Call Wayne up here. I'm going to find out what's going on first."
"Right away, Mr. York."
When Hunter failed to text the number after what felt like an eternity, Quinn grew frantic, fearing something had gone wrong.
She turned to Ethan. "Ethan, I'm heading to York Plaza. Jade and Wayne work in the same building. I have to reach Wayne before Jade realizes the plugin is on that flash drive."
Ethan asked, "Do you want me to go with you?"
"No need, Ethan. I've already troubled you enough. Thankfully you were here to help smooth things over with Director Vance. You've been a huge help."
Ethan agreed that splitting up might be best. "Quinn, I'll consult Marcus Foley to see if there are any other legal avenues we can take to protect your rights."
"Okay."
Quinn flagged down a cab, and Ethan waved as he watched her get in.
Once she was safely on her way, he pulled out his phone, made a call, and issued a cold command.
"Send someone to get close to Jade Winter. Plant the Shadow-Cloak Plugin on her computer."
