Yara had suspected it might be connected and had even briefly considered Miles, but she thought that even a scumbag like him wouldn't stoop low enough to target her directly.

Just as Quinn hung up, an e-bike wobbled erratically down the path and crashed right into her.

Quinn fell to the side, feeling a sharp scrape on her knee. The rider frantically stopped the bike and rushed over.

Quinn figured she was partly to blame anyway; if she had been paying closer attention to the road, she wouldn't have been hit. She took the number and hurried toward the street.
