AJ rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Quinn, why did... why did Miles come with you?"

Thinking back to the disastrous scene inside, even he felt a sting of embarrassment.

Quinn's chest felt incredibly heavy, every breath a struggle.

She looked completely drained. "AJ, don't call me anymore. I'm busy."

AJ knew he had screwed up this time. "Quinn, I... I didn't mean for this to happen. How about I go talk to him? I'll explain so he doesn't misunderstand."

"He's not your brother-in-law, AJ. It's a fake marriage. Stay in your lane and stop parading his name around to stroke your ego."

AJ completely disagreed. "Quinn, he came all the way out here with you today. That proves he... he doesn't hate you as much as you think."

Quinn felt an overwhelming wave of exhaustion. She closed her eyes, desperate to shake off the suffocating fatigue.

"Enough, AJ. We're finalizing the divorce next week. After that, I have absolutely nothing to do with him or the York family."

AJ stammered, panicking slightly. "Quinn, you... you can't divorce him! Isn't the contract supposed to last longer? Just drag it out a few more months!"

"I can't drag it out."

And she didn't want to. She knew exactly how disgusted and repulsed Miles was by her; she felt it in her bones every single day.

The second Jade returned from abroad, he demanded an early termination of their contract. He couldn't even stomach waiting three more months.

Quinn had her pride. She wasn't pathetic enough to throw herself at a man who openly despised her.

"Do you honestly think Miles York is your backup plan? Or are you just trying to build some fake empire using his name so Chloe Preston will finally look at you?"

"AJ, take a hard look in the mirror! What exactly does Chloe see in you?"

AJ felt completely attacked by her bluntness. He muttered defensively,

"Don't say it like that, Quinn. Sure, I don't have a fancy degree, but I've got the looks. Once I make it big, Chloe will definitely see me differently."
