She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 44

"When did I scold you? I'm just reminding you not to run to Mom over every little thing."

Miles considered their bickering to be standard petty drama; crying to their parents about it was incredibly juvenile.

He had no intention of letting Quinn cause a rift between him and his sister.

"Enough. Didn't you and Jade want to go out to Cherry Lake Park?"

At the mention of the park, Macy's mood brightened slightly. "Jade, you have to take lots of gorgeous photos of me. I'm going to post them online and make all my friends jealous."

"Of course."

Jade nodded in agreement, though a flicker of unease danced in her eyes.

Was Miles really just trying to avoid a headache by stopping Macy from complaining, or was there another reason entirely?

...

Pressed for time, Quinn hurried outside just as Miles was gallantly escorting Jade into his car.

The man who was notoriously icy to the world treated Jade with absolute reverence, smoothly shielding her head from the car door frame.

The moment he noticed Quinn, the warmth vanished from his features, instantly replaced by a glacial, unapproachable mask.

Macy let out a derisive snort. "Don't tell me she expects you to drive her to the nursing home?"

"What impeccable timing."

Jade offered a demure smile. "Miles, should we... give Quinn a ride? After all, she did make that nice soup for you last night."

Miles's face remained utterly blank. "Ignore her."

Yesterday, he had driven her out to save her brother, and what a spectacular disaster that turned out to be!

Quinn's rideshare pulled up to the intersection at that exact moment, gliding right past Miles's Rolls-Royce.
