Tristan's eyes darted away, avoiding her furious glare. "M-Mrs. York, I didn't. This is a private estate. Outside vehicles usually aren't allowed in."
"My rideshare always gets in just fine. Why is today the exception?"
Tristan nervously glanced at his boss. This was entirely Mr. York's order; he was just the messenger.
Miles's expression remained perfectly impassive, showing absolutely no intention of backing him up. He simply said, "Jade, stay home and rest. I'm heading to the office."
Tristan immediately bowed and rushed over to open the car door for his boss, preparing to drive him to work.
Gail softly interjected, "Mrs. York, since the Uber can't get in, why don't you just ride with Mr. York? It's on the way anyway."
Jade followed them out to see Miles off, acting exactly like a devoted wife kissing her beloved husband goodbye in the morning.
"Miles, drive safe. Come home early once you're done with work."
She played the role to perfection, her tone dripping with tender affection.
Listening to her, Gail actually got goosebumps and shot her a massive eye-roll.
So fake. The boss's actual wife was standing right there. Why was she acting so overly sweet first thing in the morning?
"Get in!"
The man's cold voice cut through the air, clearly devoid of any patience.
If she didn't get in, they were leaving without her.
Terrified of being late, Quinn swallowed her frustration and climbed into the other side of the car.
Watching them leave together in the same car, Jade's heart twisted with pure malice, and she viciously stomped her heel into the ground.
...
The moment Quinn got into the car, she immediately snapped her seatbelt into place, terrified of a repeat of the last misunderstanding, where she'd just end up being humiliated and accused of throwing herself at him again.
Miles's long, elegant fingers scrolled through financial news on his tablet. He didn't say a word.
Quinn leaned back against the door, keeping her gaze fixed firmly out the window.
The man finally set his tablet down, picked up a box from the seat beside him, and held it out to her.
"Take it. Hunter ordered this."

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
