She assumed his offer was nothing more than forced gentlemanly politeness.
"No need. I can do it myself."
She pulled the necklace out and reached behind her neck to clasp it, but accidentally snagged it on her hair.
Miles immediately spoke up, "Stop moving. It's caught in your hair."
"Huh?"
Quinn twisted her neck, realized it really was tangled, and furrowed her brows.
"I told you to stop moving."
Miles thought the woman was entirely too stubborn. He had just told her it was tangled, and she still didn't believe him.
He carefully took hold of the strands of her hair, gently unhooking the clasp before securely fastening it for her.
When his eyes landed on the red marks along her neck—the ones he had left there the night before—his dark gaze deepened, and his Adam's apple bobbed.
Feeling his gaze lingering on her, Quinn quickly shifted her body away from him.
The man's voice was warm. "The pearls suit you."
"Thanks!"
Quinn put more distance between them, strategically placing her purse in the middle of the seat, an obvious barrier to keep him from getting any closer.
Miles clocked the little defensive move and internally scoffed.
He nonchalantly adjusted the Patek Philippe watch on his wrist, his dark eyes brooding.
As long as she didn't conveniently 'fall' into his arms later. She was certainly good at playing hard to get.
*Ring, ring, ring—*
Jade was calling. "Miles, I'll bring you lunch at the office today. I have nothing to do at home anyway."
Miles's tone was gentle. "No need, Jade. Be good and focus on recovering at home."
Jade knew he wouldn't actually let her bring him food, but she made the call specifically to disgust Quinn.

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
