Miles spoke in a gentle tone, "Jade... Quinn didn't say that. Be good. After Grandma's birthday banquet, I'll go with you to drop Leo off for his first day of kindergarten."
Upon hearing this, Jade's teary eyes immediately lit up, a hint of excitement lacing her voice.
"Miles, you're really promising to personally take him to school on his first day?"
"Yes."
Jade was practically doing cartwheels in her head. Miles had finally agreed!
She had picked out a kindergarten ages ago and had brought up the idea of him going with her to drop Leo off, but Miles had always used work as an excuse to reject her.
Every time she mentioned it, he changed the subject. She never expected him to actually agree this time.
"Miles, I'll head back this afternoon after I get Leo settled. You can go ahead to work."
Seeing how agreeable and sensible she was acting, Miles replied softly, "Alright."
...
Quinn went to Blackwood Press. Arthur Vance had scheduled a meeting with her today to discuss an upcoming book signing event and go over her responsibilities.
"Director Vance, do we really need to include my marital status in this bio?"
"If you'd rather not disclose it, we can leave it out."
"By the way, did you happen to run into a Director Julian Vane at the exhibition center last time?"
Quinn vaguely remembered the name. She dug through the business card holder in her bag, found the card, and handed it over.
Arthur Vance adjusted his reading glasses as he looked at the card. "Yes, that's Director Vane. Fairmont Global News Network asked me to recommend a female host with excellent foreign language skills, and I immediately thought of you. Director Vane said he remembered you from the exhibition center and that he gave you his card."
Arthur pushed a stack of documents regarding the new program across the table, his expression earnest.
"Quinn, take a look at these. The international network is launching a brand-new bilingual interview show. The station has been auditioning for a long time but couldn't find the right fit. When he came to Blackwood Press, he happened to see a video of your translation work. They were incredibly impressed by both your spoken fluency and your overall presence."

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
