She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 7

'You've got sticky fingers, stealing York family supplies to subsidize your brother. Macy catches you and scolds you a bit, and now you come crying to me, hinting that she's bullying you on purpose?'

Quinn's face had drained of color at the time. She had frantically tried to explain: 'Those... Jack said they were expiring and needed to be thrown out. I thought it was a waste to just toss them in the garbage, so I asked Jack if—'

Miles had cut her off with a freezing glare. 'Leave Jack out of this. I know your mother did him a favor once, so of course he's going to cover for you.'

Seeing the pure disgust and annoyance in his eyes, the words had died in her throat. It felt as though a massive boulder had crushed her chest.

She hadn't tried to explain further, knowing it was entirely pointless.

The undeniable truth was that she had taken things from the York estate. Even if they were garbage, destined for the dump, she shouldn't have accepted the charity.

Miles had tightened his jaw and issued a lethal warning: 'Quinn, from now on, without my explicit permission, you are forbidden from stepping foot on the second floor. And you will absolutely never enter my study again.'

At that moment, all the strength had drained from her body. Her heart had plummeted into a freezing abyss.

The humiliating memories surged back, threatening to drown her once again.

Pulling her gaze back to the present, Quinn forced away the lingering sting in her eyes. She loosened her clenched fists and met Macy's stare with icy composure.

"Macy, these are my personal belongings. You have no right to search through them."

Ignoring Macy entirely, Quinn continued hauling her boxes out to the courtyard.

She ordered a rideshare on her phone, planning to load everything up and leave shortly.

Macy shot a pointed look at Susan. Catching the hint, the maid immediately rushed inside the house.

When Quinn returned inside to grab the next load, Macy barked an order.

"Susan, grab some people and tear every single one of her boxes open. I want to see exactly what she's trying to steal this time."

Susan was Mrs. York's loyal lackey at Regency Bay. Throughout Quinn's years living there, the maid had subjected her to endless bullying and mockery.

"Right away, Miss."
