Three days later. Luther called Hilda, instructing her to come to Aegis Group to finalize their divorce agreement.

At four in the afternoon, Hilda arrived as scheduled. She ran into Jolie Lovell in the main lobby.

Jolie had clearly been discharged from the hospital; she looked incredibly radiant and full of life. In contrast, Hilda appeared slightly exhausted from her pregnancy.

The two women brushed past each other. Jolie stopped her with a cold sneer, wearing the triumphant smirk of a victor. "Have you seen The Bibliophile's social media? Even a woman with that much talent is desperately in love with Luther. You can imagine how sought-after he is. Giving up so easily is a foolish move, honey. I'm afraid that once you're divorced and dragging a kid around, you'll never find a decent man again."

Hilda looked at her calmly. "You went to school. Why do you sound so completely uneducated?"

That was Mina Lovell's parenting for you.

Jolie opened her mouth to shoot back.

Hilda's attitude was ice-cold. "Is being the other woman a point of pride for you? Luther and I are parting on amicable terms. Don't push me too far, or I'll drag you through a marital asset recovery lawsuit. Even if I don't see a dime, the scandal alone will completely ruin your reputation. Do you really want to test me?"

Jolie's face drained of color as she glared fiercely at her.

Hilda didn't have the time to entertain her. She no longer loved Luther, nor did she harbor any illusions about her father's affection. Even her hatred for Jolie had faded. In the future, they would be nothing more than business rivals, devoid of any personal emotional entanglements. She had already wasted far too much time on feelings.

At that moment, Lori came downstairs to receive her. Hilda followed the secretary up to the top-floor executive suite.

In the massive office, aside from Luther, sat four lawyers—the absolute heavyweights of the Aegis Group legal team. Because the settlement involved an astronomical sum and ten percent of Aegis Group's shares, they were handling the paperwork with extreme caution, spelling out every single clause in painstaking detail.

Luther sat on the curved leather sofa. He wore a light blue dress shirt and black trousers. Despite the simple attire, his naturally striking features made him look devastatingly handsome.

Hearing the door open, he lifted his eyes to look at her. After not seeing her for a few days, she seemed to have lost a little weight. Her complexion was noticeably pale.

Had she been having a hard time lately?

Half an hour later, the paperwork was ready.

Attorney Crane sat beside Hilda, explaining the clauses page by page. She read through them with intense focus.

"Because you are the legal guardian of Miss Annie Cassidy, you will manage this ten percent share on her behalf," Attorney Crane explained. "This means you will attend the two annual Aegis Group shareholder meetings in her place. As for the real estate properties personally gifted by Mr. Sanford and the five billion in cash, they will be wired directly into your account. The funds will be available the very next day after the divorce is finalized."

Hilda nodded to show she understood.

She flipped to the final page. Once she signed her name, he would get his divorce certificate in a few days, and she would get her money.

Five billion was a massive safety net for anyone.

With a relieved smile, Hilda picked up the pen to sign, but Luther's voice suddenly echoed in her ear, "Wait."
