A week later, Luther had fully recovered.

In the CEO's office at Aegis Group.

He sat behind his massive desk, casually spinning his phone, reading the same text over and over again.

—April 8th, 7 PM, The Cerulean.

His date with The Bibliophile.

When he walked into the restaurant tomorrow and she realized he was the one who bought 'First Love' for 200 million, would she be shocked? Would she be speechless? Her reaction was going to be priceless.

His mind was racing.

He leaned back in his chair, looking at 'First Love', which now hung directly behind his desk next to 'The Isle'. Every time he looked at them, he thought of her, and of the life they had shared.

The longing had practically made him physically ill.

A knock echoed through the room.

"Come in," he said smoothly.

Lori entered, keeping her voice professional. "Mr. Sanford, Ms. Lovell is here. She said she has something crucial to discuss, something you'll want to hear regarding Mrs. Sanford."

He frowned.

Jolie wanted to talk about Hilda?

After a brief pause, he agreed.

Jolie walked in, looking incredibly pale.

She stopped near the door, her voice soft. "Luther."

Her eyes immediately fell on 'First Love'.

Just as she suspected.

He was the buyer.

He couldn't let Hilda go. He regretted everything and didn't want the divorce.

He didn't bother hiding it; a man in his position never had to justify his actions. He simply looked at her, his tone perfectly neutral. "What's so urgent?"

Jolie closed the door behind her, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "You haven't seen me in days. I know you're tired of me. I pushed too hard, trying to force you away from her. I know you want to be with her—you two share a child, and I have nothing. I've spent the last few days really looking at myself, and I am horrified by how ugly I've become. This isn't who I am. I'm someone who knows when to gracefully walk away. If I truly love you, I should want you to be happy, not trap you in an impossible position."

A single tear slipped down her cheek.

But she maintained a brave front.

Looking exhausted but resolute, she continued—

"I've requested a transfer to our overseas branch."

"I stole her childhood. I refuse to steal her husband too, no matter how much I love you... I hate the person I've turned into, so I'm leaving. Please don't feel guilty. When I think about how I've acted, I just feel deeply ashamed. Please tell her I'm sorry."

She immortalized herself as the perfect tragedy in his eyes before walking out the door.

Alone in his office, he let out a long, heavy exhale.

Jolie was stepping aside.

Now, he couldn't wait for his dinner with Hilda.

He couldn't wait to tell her he was the buyer, just to see the look on her face. He wanted to plan Annie's birthday party together. He wanted to tell her to tear up the divorce papers, because the only people he wanted to build a life with were her and Annie.

His mood lifted significantly.

A moment later, Lori texted him a confirmation.

Hilda had formally accepted the dinner invitation at the French restaurant.

He leaned back in his leather chair, staring at the ceiling, his Adam's apple bobbing with anticipation.

Between him and Harrell, he was confident she would still choose him.

After all, they had a beautiful daughter together.

He decided he needed to pick out a few special gifts for Annie.

He would ask Lori for advice later.

Women generally had a better sense of what little girls liked.
