Half an hour later, the car pulled up to the entrance of The Cerulean.

Hilda opened the door. She tilted her head up, gazing at the starlit sky. She looked at it quietly.

This would probably be the last peaceful night she shared with Harrell.

After tonight, she would no longer be his wife.

Yorick was right. It truly was a dog-eat-dog world.

...

Luther had booked the entire restaurant.

It was already an incredibly exclusive venue.

But just for tonight's dinner, Luther had ordered the staff to completely redecorate a section. An entire feature wall had been modified to perfectly replicate his study back at their old penthouse, with First Love hanging squarely in the center. In Hilda's eyes, this grandiose display of affection meant absolutely nothing. She wasn't a naive little girl anymore.

Luther was the reason her hands were tied.

Because of Luther, she couldn't touch Jolie.

But after tonight, she could.

Overnight, Hilda seemed like an entirely different person.

Luther sat in the lavishly redecorated dining room.

He wore a bespoke, three-piece black suit. His dark hair was slicked back with a hint of pomade, exposing his sharp, striking features. He had always been handsome, but tonight he radiated a peak, mature masculinity. As she walked toward him, his eyes locked onto her, burning with suppressed, manic obsession.

He hadn't forgotten that she was still Harrell's wife.

They had to maintain a facade of propriety for now.

Sebastian stood directly behind Luther.

Seeing him, Hilda didn't look the least bit surprised. She gracefully slipped off her coat, revealing a knee-length silk dress that hugged her curves flawlessly. The exposed skin along her neck was luminous and flawless. Acting as if she were completely oblivious to her own allure, she took a seat and offered Luther a polite smile. "It's been a long time! I didn't expect the buyer to be you."

That soft, melodious voice instantly ensnared Luther.

A woman was always most captivating when her charm felt entirely effortless.

Especially since Luther hadn't touched anyone in a year.

And she was the one he had been agonizingly craving.

The woman had just casually bared a hint of her skin.

Luther turned to Sebastian. "Wait in the car."

Sebastian nodded.

He had barely taken two steps when Hilda's lightly amused voice stopped him. "Sebastian, when you were with Harrell, you were his executive assistant—second only to him. How did you end up as Luther's personal driver?"

Sebastian whipped his head around.

Hilda was gently swirling her wine glass, her lips curved into a smile.

But her eyes held absolutely zero warmth.

—They were like shards of ice.

Sebastian had seen Hilda soften before.
