Hilda began to feed her the waffles.
They were large, dense pieces.
She forcefully shoved them into Jolie's mouth, bite by bite.
The woman thrashed and resisted, but the doctors held her firmly in place. Hilda shoved spoonful after spoonful into her mouth, her tone unnervingly calm. "Dad and Mina are getting on in years; it's about time they retired abroad. As for you, I'll be taking care of you from now on. You suffer from schizophrenia, Jolie, which means you need a legal guardian. Now that you don't have a husband, as your blood sister, I'm naturally the most suitable candidate to step in, wouldn't you agree? Don't worry, I won't mistreat you. I'll visit you often so you won't get lonely. I'll bring you all sorts of delicious treats and fatten you right up, just to put Dad and Mina's minds at ease."
Jolie was utterly paralyzed with shock.
She stared at Hilda in pure terror.
It was as if she were looking at a complete stranger.
She refused to chew, clamping her lips tightly shut, her glare so venomous she looked ready to rip Hilda's throat out.
The container of waffles was knocked to the floor.
Syrup splashed onto Hilda's expensive clothes.
Hilda simply wiped it away with a dismissive, elegant smile.
"Why so upset?"
"Haven't you always complained about how hard your life was growing up?"
"Relax, sister will treat you very well from now on. I'll return everything you've ever given me, tenfold. I promise you'll have a thrilling, chaotic life every single day. I wouldn't want to disrespect the bond we forged growing up."
Jolie looked at her as if she didn't recognize her at all.
Hilda offered a very faint smile.
She had the staff clean up the spilled food, forced Jolie's jaw open with a medical tool, and continued shoving the rest down her throat. It would be a shame to waste food, after all.
Jolie violently shook her head, resisting with everything she had, but it was entirely futile.
She was being treated like livestock.
Her throat and stomach were forcefully stuffed to the brim.
Hilda maintained her elegant, chilling smile.
"Thanks to you, Jolie, I'm returning to Luther."
She patted Jolie's tear-streaked face. "So you can still call him your brother-in-law."
Jolie's entire body convulsed with terror, and she finally managed to choke out a sentence. "He agreed to it! He promised to let me go!"
Hilda lowered her eyes. "Then that just proves you don't know him well enough."
Hilda didn't resort to any excessive physical torture.
They had all the time in the world, after all.
Before leaving, she smiled warmly at the attending doctor. "I'm leaving my sister's treatment entirely in your hands. Please, don't hold back on her medication. If one round of therapy doesn't work, give her a few more. Also, she shouldn't have any contact with outsiders. It's best to keep her securely locked down at night. We wouldn't want her wandering out and hurting anyone, would we?"
