Zane was just there to run a quick physical check.

And to treat the swelling on Joyce's face.

As an old friend, seeing Hilda again unleashed a tidal wave of mixed emotions. Although she looked sad right now, it was completely superficial—not even a fraction of the soul-crushing agony she carried in the past. If he had his way, he hoped she would never regain her memories. He even selfishly hoped she could finally receive the pampering and compensation she deserved from Luther.

Luther walked Zane to the door to see him out.

After closing the suite door, the two men exchanged a few words in the hallway.

Zane kept his voice incredibly low—

"Physically, she's perfectly fine, but there's no guaranteeing when or if she might suddenly remember everything."

"You need to seriously think about this, Luther."

"What exactly are you going to do when she finally remembers?"

Luther's gaze darkened into an abyss, but he didn't say a word.

Zane knew better than to pry further.

Some things were simply far beyond his jurisdiction.

He rode the elevator down and was walking across the hotel lobby when he practically collided with someone at the entrance.

—It was Harrell Judson.

The man stood in the cool autumn night, covered in travel dust.

It was obvious he had just rushed here at breakneck speed.

Zane slowed his pace but ultimately walked over to Harrell. Gently clasping the man's shoulder, he murmured a low, pleading warning: "Harrell, I know you're tearing yourself apart inside, and I know you'll never trust leaving her in Luther's hands. But she has forgotten absolutely everything! Damien is the one who saved her life, and right now, both Damien and Joyce are trapped in Luther's grip. You know damn well that with Luther's resources, crushing a guy like Damien takes zero effort. You know exactly what kind of dirty work Damien used to do. She cares deeply for Damien; their bond as siblings is incredibly strong! Harrell, owing someone your life trumps everything. Consider this giving Damien a way out, and giving her a real chance at a second life! If she never remembers the past, and gets to spend the rest of her life being treated like a queen by Luther, wouldn't that be a blessing in disguise? All her kids share blood with Luther anyway... Harrell, Luther will never, ever betray her again."

Harrell's lips trembled slightly.

It had been two years, and he still hadn't clawed his way out of the grief.

Hilda was back.

But she had become an entirely different person.

And now he was forced to stand by and watch that absolute bastard Luther pursue her.

To watch him turn her back into Mrs. Sanford.

He never once doubted Luther's capabilities or lethal charm.

Harrell stood paralyzed for a very long time.

Zane physically yanked him away—

"Harrell, do not forget that you have a wife and family now."

"Come on, let's go grab a drink."

"Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on her for you. I won't let anything happen."

"It's completely different this time. I swear it."
