Luther didn't know any of it.
He gently gripped her dark hair.
Suddenly, as if his restraint had snapped, he scooped Hilda up and threw her onto the large bed, treating her just as he had on their wedding night. Yet, there must have still been some psychological barrier. He wanted to preserve his fidelity for Jolie, and incredibly, he actually held back again. When it ended, he held her tightly from behind, his voice gruff. "How was it for you?"
Hilda closed her eyes.
—Luther was such a hypocrite.
Claiming to love Jolie while eagerly exploring her body, yet unable to get over his own mental hurdles—he wanted to have his cake and eat it too. She wasn't sad, just terribly exhausted. She was a woman too, with perfectly normal physical needs. Even after taking things so far, Luther still hit the brakes at the last second.
Time and time again, what woman could stand that?
It wasn't like she was frigid.
She let out a soft sigh—
"It was alright."
But to his ears, it sounded like a challenge.
He proceeded to thoroughly wear her out once again.
Hilda felt like he was going to break her.
She seriously wondered if he had some sort of dysfunction.
After the intense exertion, however, Luther seemed significantly energized. His eyes were bright, as if he'd just downed several shots of espresso.
Hilda, on the other hand, was completely drained. It was her first time experiencing just how many tricks a man could employ. Even without going all the way, she had experienced a woman's pleasure. Still, she remained clear-headed; it was just physical satisfaction. It meant nothing.
The night deepened.
That box of ultra-thin 001s was still sitting on the nightstand.
—Lonely, yet highly suggestive.
…
Luther woke up early the next morning.
Probably because he had relieved his tension.
He felt completely refreshed and in a good mood.
But the moment he opened his eyes, a little dark-haired head popped up by the bedside, followed by a crisp—
"Daddy!"
Luther felt like he was just paying for services rendered.
Annie remained completely affectionate, counting on her soft little fingers. "We have to wear matching family outfits that day. All the other kids and their moms and dads dress like that."
Luther wanted to interrogate her about Soren.
But deciding it would utterly ruin the mood, he refrained.
He gave the little creature a pat under the chin, as close to affection as he could muster, and then went to wash up.
A moment later, Annie's voice echoed from the bathroom—
"Daddy, I'll squeeze your toothpaste!"
"Daddy, is this aftershave?"
Sweet, eager to please, and smelling like baby powder.
It was enough to melt almost anyone.
For the first time, Luther actually didn't find it annoying. He'd consider it advance practice for raising a child.
In the future, when he and Jolie had a baby, they would be just as adorable.
