Ms. Windsor went completely pale.
"Ms. Nash, please calm down. The school will handle this," the teacher pleaded.
"Handle what?" Miranda cut in, her voice shrill. "Are you even capable? Since I walked in here, has anyone in this school said one fair word? You're just trying to smooth things over! My son was assaulted, and instead of taking our side, you're defending the girl who hit him! What, just because she doesn't have a dad, you think she's pathetic and deserves special treatment?"
"Please, just give us a minute!" Ms. Windsor urged. "I've already notified Principal Sutton. He just finished a meeting and is on his way down. If he can't give you a satisfactory resolution, then we can take formal steps. Having the police show up at the school wouldn't be good for our reputation, either."
Realizing she still needed to maintain some grace in front of her son's teacher, Miranda let out a haughty scoff. She shot a dismissive glare at Giselle. "Fine. I'd love to see how your principal plans to explain this."
A few moments later, the office door swung open.
A man in his fifties strode in, wearing a dark gray jacket, his expression grave. It was Desmond Sutton, the principal of the kindergarten. With over thirty years in the education system, he had rushed over the second he heard there was an incident involving Lanny's family.
Miranda Nash was notoriously difficult, and he dreaded finding out who her kid had clashed with this time.
"What's going on here?" Mr. Sutton asked, his eyes landing on the teacher.
Ms. Windsor quickly stepped aside. "It's a dispute between Lanny and Gigi."
