She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 112

Kayla must have been worried sick, calling Caleb repeatedly, but he only managed to exchange a few hurried words before hanging up.

Just as Lyra had anticipated, Rowan Jameson threw his massive personal leverage into ruthlessly short-selling Fairchild Holdings.

But... why?

In this life, she hadn't stalked him, hadn't begged to marry him—so why was he still trying to destroy her family? Was it purely because he was convinced she had orchestrated Jasmine's car accident?

Lyra's face paled, a wave of suffocating despair threatening to drag her under.

A heavy, cold dread settled deep in her chest.

Thankfully, she had Aurelius Capital this time. Over the ensuing days, foreign funds relentlessly devoured every single share of Fairchild Holdings dumped onto the market, triggering a miraculous, aggressive rally.

Amidst a total bloodbath of a market crash, Fairchild Holdings was the sole victor, soaring with blinding, defiant momentum.

Buoyed by their invincible market performance, the public began praising the impeccable quality of the company's products. Riding this wave of absolute consumer confidence, brand trust and partner retention skyrocketed. Fairchild Holdings' new product line launched flawlessly on schedule.

Over the next two months, they massively scaled production, cementing their iron grip as the second most powerful corporate empire in Seaborne City.

...

Meanwhile, Rowan pushed away from his monitors and stepped up to his floor-to-ceiling window. "Is Arthur still at the helm of Fairchild Holdings?"

"What do you mean? You think they swapped out their management team?" Lucas Chavez asked.

Rowan remained silent, but that was exactly what he suspected.

"It's always been Arthur calling the shots," Lucas noted. "Though word on the street is he's grooming Caleb to take over soon. Not exactly a shocker."

Wesley chimed in, "Why do you ask, Boss?"

Rowan offered a ghost of a smile as he returned to his desk. On his screens, the explosive growth of Fairchild Holdings sat in glaring contrast to Jameson Tech's numbers. Worse yet, he had just received intelligence that the rising semiconductor firm he had intended to acquire had already been secretly bought out by the Fairchilds.

"Behind these screens," Rowan murmured coldly, "it feels as though there's an invisible hand actively trying to rip my throat out."

Lucas looked stunned. "Who? You mean Fairchild Holdings? They don't have the teeth to take you on."

Rowan didn't reply.

"Do you want me to plant some moles in their ranks?" Lucas offered. "I don't know if it was a wild coincidence or what, but all our previous insiders just got purged in their recent layoffs."

"No," Rowan said softly, his predatory gaze fixed on the glowing graphs. "Maybe I'm overthinking it."

Perhaps it was just a coincidence.

...

Caleb enthusiastically dragged Quentin and the core R&D team out for a massive celebratory lunch. He was in such high spirits that he devoured an enormous meal, practically glowing with triumph.

Lyra tagged along for the lunch as well.

Across the table, she watched Quentin happily clinking glasses with Caleb. They already looked like brothers in arms—the perfect dynamic between boss and subordinate.

In her previous life, Quentin Pierce hadn't been this agreeable at all.

Back then, Quentin had been entirely captivated by brilliant women like Jasmine Ford.

He had even cultivated a tight-knit friendship with Jasmine, blurring the lines of corporate hierarchy.

Even after Lyra married Rowan and became Mrs. Jameson, Quentin had blatantly covered for Rowan multiple times. His loyalty to Rowan had always been rock-solid!

But now, before the Jamesons even knew what hit them, Caleb had forged a genuine bond with Quentin, locking him down with an ironclad NDA for Fairchild Holdings.

She had beaten them to the punch. She actually pulled it off.

Yet, Lyra didn't feel the soothing wave of relief she had expected.

As they wrapped up their meal and headed toward the exit of The Sapphire Room, they nearly collided with Rowan, Wesley, and their entourage walking in.

Without a second thought, Lyra threw herself protectively in front of Quentin.
