She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 193

Tabitha's face turned an ugly shade of purple. "Lyra Fairchild! Just because you failed to keep Rowan's heart doesn't mean you get to lash out like a psychopath!"

Jasmine covered her mouth, letting out a delicate, wounded cough. "Mom, that's enough!"

Mrs. Montgomery, the hostess of the luncheon, rushed over the moment she saw the disaster, frantically draping a blazer over Jasmine's ruined dress. "I am so incredibly sorry, Jasmine. I never in a million years imagined Lyra would do something so unhinged."

Jasmine raised a hand, gracefully cutting her off. "It's fine. Please, just don't let Rowan find out about this. I'm terrified of what he might do to her."

Mrs. Montgomery marveled at how generous and forgiving Jasmine was being despite such a vicious attack. Her gaze then snapped to Lyra, the polite hostess facade completely gone.

"Security. Escort her out."

"Get Miss Fairchild off the premises immediately."

Lyra watched as the crowd fawned over Jasmine. She knew Rowan's ruthless nature all too well. He would never let anyone who laid a finger on Jasmine walk away unscathed—even if Jasmine had deliberately thrown herself into the crossfire just to play the victim.

"You are no longer welcome here. If you don't leave this instant, I'm having you dragged out," Mrs. Montgomery snapped, disgusted by the total lack of remorse in Lyra's ice-cold stare. "Get out."

A waiter stepped forward, gesturing forcefully toward the exit.

Setting her empty glass on a passing tray, Lyra didn't spare Jasmine another glance before turning on her heel and walking out.

The next day, there was absolute silence from Rowan. No retaliation, no threats.

Seeing that her daughter had been publicly humiliated without so much as a peep from her billionaire boyfriend, Tabitha quickly deduced that he must have been kept in the dark.

"Why on earth haven't you told Rowan?" she demanded. "That psychotic brat threw a glass of wine at you! Are you just going to let her get away with it?"

A moment later, a maid entered the room, announcing they had guests.

It was the hosts from yesterday's luncheon—Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery. According to the maid, they had arrived bearing obscenely expensive gifts, coming to formally apologize for the incident.

The corners of Jasmine's lips curled up. She had fully anticipated their arrival, so she wasn't surprised in the slightest. She and her mother made their way down the grand staircase, finding the Montgomerys already waiting nervously in the foyer. The couple looked incredibly anxious, their posture practically reeking of subservience.

They had come to grovel, knowing full well that offending Jasmine Ford was a death sentence in Seaborne City's high society.

"Jasmine, Tabitha."

"Mr. Montgomery, Mrs. Montgomery, what a pleasant surprise. Please, have a seat," Jasmine greeted flawlessly.

"We are incredibly sorry about what happened yesterday," Mr. Montgomery blurted out. "It was our failure as hosts to let you be subjected to such terrible treatment."
