Delilah was furious—livid that her daughter had kept her completely in the dark, suffering through the agonizing pain in utter secrecy, enduring countless sleepless nights alone. But looking at Lyra's battered state, that anger melted entirely into aching heartbreak.
"Lyra, I can't believe you..."
Seeing her mother, Lyra's eyes instantly filled with tears. Guilt washed over her, and her voice trembled with fear. "Mom, I'm so sorry. I was just terrified you'd worry yourself sick. That's why I didn't say anything."
Seeing her daughter looking so utterly broken shattered Delilah's resolve. She pulled Lyra into a fierce hug, tears streaming down her face.
Meanwhile, Caleb urgently interrogated the doctor about her condition. Hearing that his sister was on the mend eased the heavy dread in his chest, but learning she still couldn't walk sent a dark, furious cloud over his features.
"Mr. Jameson has been personally tending to the patient these past few days," the doctor stated matter-of-factly.
Only then did Delilah truly register Rowan's presence in the room.
Before she could say a word, Lyra's phone burst to life. A video call from her sister-in-law, Kayla Harrington, lit up the screen.
"It's Kayla. You should answer it," Delilah urged softly.
Lyra answered, flashing a sweet smile, and chatted warmly with Kayla for a few minutes.
By the time she hung up, she realized Rowan had vanished.
Of course he had. Her family was here now.
She didn't have to tip-toe around him or suffer his twisted threats anymore.
A massive weight lifted off Lyra's shoulders.
At noon the following day, a visitor arrived at the VIP suite. It was Jayden Ward, carrying a massive bouquet of flowers and an extravagant fruit basket.
Lyra immediately shot a look at Caleb.
