She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 480

She refused to be twisted by his filthy assumptions. She refused to be a joke in his eyes.

The blade was ice-cold as she raised it and slashed down hard toward her own forearm.

Rowan's pupils contracted. His arm shot out, his iron-hard palm blocking her path.

The razor-sharp blade instantly sliced into the back of his hand. Warm blood slid down the steel, dripping onto the cold floor.

He had stopped it mere millimeters before it hit her skin.

The air in the room went dead silent.

Lyra froze, looking up at him in shock.

The amusement completely vanished from Rowan's dark eyes.

Blood seeped from his hand. His voice was terrifyingly raspy, laced with a tension she had never heard before. "I didn't think you'd go as far as hurting yourself."

"I underestimated you."

He stepped back, slowly releasing his defensive stance, and carefully took the knife from her trembling grip. The blood from his hand smeared across their touching fingers, warm, sticky, and glaringly bright.

"You..." Lyra's lips parted.

Rowan didn't yell. His eyes only held a deep resignation. "If you don't want to admit it, fine. But why take it out on yourself?"

Looking down at the gash on his hand, he grabbed some gauze and carefully wrapped it around his own injury.

He glanced at her pale, rigid profile, his tone terrifyingly calm. "Be angry if you want, but there's no need for self-harm. We can just talk."

Lyra's hands trembled slightly. Her eyes were red, but she stubbornly turned her face away.

The room fell quiet, save for the sound of their shallow breathing.

Rowan stared at her pale face, wondering if she was actually losing her mind.

He reached out and pulled the silently breaking girl into a tight, inescapable embrace, holding her so fiercely she could barely breathe.

"We should see a doctor. You need a therapist."
