"When we didn't stop you and were willing to give you our blessing, you rebelled at every turn and refused to just marry her. Now that Delilah won't agree, your father vehemently objects, and even I disapprove a million times over, you decide to be stubborn? Your behavior is getting more absurd by the minute. You're acting like a petulant child!"
After a long silence, Victoria's voice trembled as she demanded, "Rowan, does pushing things to this extreme mean you truly harbor that much hatred for us as your parents?"
Only when it reached this point did Rowan frown, his tone entirely devoid of guilt. "Who I love is my own business. It has nothing to do with you."
Victoria was frantic. "Then what about Julian? Everyone thought Lyra was his girlfriend. If you force your way in like this, what is your brother supposed to do?"
"They've been over for a long time," Rowan replied coldly.
This time, Victoria's voice softened, taking on a tone of desperate pleading. "Rowan, Mom is begging you. Let Lyra go and marry Sylvia Wynter. You can't just disregard the Jameson family's reputation, can you?"
Rowan paused. "Fine."
Victoria couldn't process it for a second. Her voice was full of shock. "W-what?"
A cryptic smile tugged at the corner of Rowan's lips. "A wedding. You take full control of the preparations."
Before Victoria could say another word, he hung up. He got back into the car, glanced at the backseat, and started the engine, driving toward the cabin.
Rowan carefully placed Lyra onto the bed.
Before leaving, he made a point to instruct the Matron.
"Cook something for her when she wakes up. I'll be tied up for the next few days and won't be able to come. Make sure you keep a close eye on her."
The Matron took back her phone, looking uneasy. "What if she runs away again?"
"I'll arrange for a few bodyguards to take shifts."
With that, Rowan finally turned and left.
