With that, she shot a glance at the nanny, silently signaling her to lift the boy back into his high chair.
Seeing this, Kayla quickly intervened. "Don't always spoil him by feeding him. Let the kids eat on their own. We need to foster independence early. If you do everything for them, they'll just grow up spoiled."
Hearing that, Lyra pulled back her spoon, abandoned the idea of feeding him, and quietly returned to her seat.
Caleb noticed every subtle shift in her behavior. "Since you've come back, you've seemed... different."
Though he said the words, he didn't read too deeply into the situation. His mind was still entirely focused on the massive equity she had given away. He sighed. "You gave all the shares Dad left you to Hazel. How could you be so generous?"
Lyra answered smoothly, "I was worried you wouldn't divide things fairly later on. And who knows, when they grow up, they might not run things as well as Dad did."
Caleb laughed. "You really don't have much faith in your brother, do you?"
He paused, remembering something else. "Besides, you worked at Fairchild Holdings for so long and never took a dime in salary. At least you had the dividends before, but now you have absolutely nothing."
Lyra traced the edge of her plate with her thumb. "I rarely got involved in the company's daily operations anyway. I didn't pour that much blood and sweat into it, so you don't need to feel guilty. Going forward... I doubt I'll be of much help to Fairchild Holdings either."
After all, she was going to have a baby to raise. She would definitely resign from her position at the company.
Caleb simply assumed she was entirely focused on the investment firm she had founded abroad and planned to dedicate herself to her personal career. Completely oblivious to the hidden meaning in her words, he asked curiously, "What sectors is your overseas firm investing in? The returns must be astronomical."
Lyra gave a faint, tight smile. She looked down at the food on the table. "It's about to run out of steam."
Because her death date from her previous life was rapidly approaching.
She was about to lose her prophetic knowledge of the future.
Once she properly secured her current assets, she planned to buy index funds and gold. The remaining capital would be more than enough to raise her child single-handedly. When the baby was a little older, she would spend her free time traveling the world with him.
Lyra had it all meticulously planned out.
After dinner, Delilah pulled her daughter into her bedroom. "Is your health alright?"
Lyra nodded. "I'm perfectly fine."
