Silence Reveals Hidden Answers’ by Michael Anderson novel Chapter 106

Chapter 106

Jennifer Marie.

20 euchars

I walk out of the Prescott Estate, past the layers and layers of cars parked in the circular driveway like some kind of luxury dealership. The sun is beating down, and I can already feel my back sweating through my thin dress. Just from here to there. Wait…it’s not just here to there.

I’m walking all the way to the gate.

The security douche at the entrance gave me the whole “Mr. Prescott said Jenna is not allowed to come in so we cannot defy those orders” speech like a robot. So now I have to do the walking to see Jenna. Perfect. Just perfect.

I kick a stone out of my slippers as the gate finally comes into view. The security guards, spot me coming and scramble to open it.

“Ma’am, do you need your car-”

“No.” I cut him off, already stepping past him. “I just want to speak to that…”

I stop when I see Jenna get out of her car. She pulls off her shades, and for a second I see something shaky in her eyes.

“Just make sure to stay close while I speak to her.” I step out of the gate.

Jenna shuts her car door and walks toward me fast, like she’s been waiting all day for this.

“Where is Harvey?”

“What do you wanna tell him?” I told my arms and use the moment to catch my breath. Harvey doesn’t know I’m out here. I told him I was going to sleep, and that’s where it ended. He probably thinks I’m in some wing of the house picking out curtains or whatever new wives do. So, she better make this quick.

“It’s Harvey I wanna speak to.”

“If you care about him, you’ll pass the damn message. Whether it’s me or him.” I raise my eyebrows. “Why do you think I came out here? Because I like you?”

She scoffs, looking past me at the mountain of the estate behind my shoulder “No. Because you wanna show me that you’re goddess of this house now.”

“Never been that kind of person. Seems like Harvey was right. You don’t ha back in

t to say.” I turn around to go

“Wait!”

I stop.

“My dad is coming here with his men in a matter of two days.” The words rush out of her like she’s been holding them in “He wants to burn down the Prescott mansion and burn you guys along with it. No, scratch that. He’s gonna take you our of the debris. And while Harvey is watching, he’s gonna do stuff to you.”

“I’m sorry?” I stare at her. “Do… stuff to me?”

“Do I have to spell it out for you!?”

“You spell?” I keep my voice flat. “You are stupid. I don’t think you’re capable of spelling

Chapter 106

“My father is gonna come in here with as many gangs as he can find in the city. They’re gonna intercept maybe in the middle of the night. Harvey is gonna be blindsided. He’s not gonna be able to fight because he’s gonna be worrying about you. My dad will end him. But before he does, he’ll give him a glimpse of what your fate is gonna look like.” She comes

closer.

“Now let me draw you a picture of what that is. You on your knees. And someone you don’t even know… with a cock in you. That’s how the tradition of the men in my family works. They punish their enemies with their women. Then he’ll kill you along with Harvey and leave you for the cops to find your bodies.”

My blood goes cold in the hot sun.

I feel it happen….the slow freeze spreading from my chest to my fingers, to my stomach, to everywhere. Never in my life have 1 actually let myself think about something that disgusting happening to me. I don’t even have a word to say to her. It’s the way she said it so easy like she’s seen it before.

Now it makes sense why Harvey won’t even listen to her. Why he looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting we let her in.

‘Oh look at that.” Jenna tilts her head. “Poor innocent Jennifer-”

You’re lying.” My voice comes out smaller than I want it to.

“Now why would I lie?” She smiles. “I came here to warn Harvey. You have no idea what he’s gotten into because of you.”

‘Me?” I feel my voice crack. “You and your brother are the ones who did this! He would have never gone after your dad’s stuff if your damn brother didn’t lie that he and I were together—”

‘Reign likes you.” She shrugs. “So no. It’s your fault. Once again.”

‘Excuse me!?”

I put my hand on my forehead and feel my fingers shaking. In my head, I’m drawing pictures I don’t want to see. That stupid thing she just told me, playing over and over like a bad movie I can’t turn off.

No. She’s lying. Obviously lying. Only the devil would do something like that to someone. Maybe she’s just trying to make me feel horrible and hysterical. Get in my head. Make me scared so I do something stupid.

Regardless, I shouldn’t let it show that I’m affected.

I drop my hand and straighten my shoulders. “Done.”

She blinks. “What?”

“I said are you done?”

“Jennifer!”

Harvey’s voice cuts through the air and my body breaks out in goosebumps instantly Shit Shit shit, shit. I was just about to go back in. I don’t even have time to face him before I feel his hand close around my arm and spin me around to face hitt

When Harvey’s eyes land on me, he doesn’t say anything. He just looks at me like I’ve disappointed him so completely that he can’t even find the words to say it out loud.

“1…’ I start, but nothing comes,

There’s nothing to say. He’s caught me red-handed. Sneaking out to talk to the one person he explicitly told the not to go

near.

Chapter 106

“Harvey. Jenna’s voice floats over from behind me.

‘Get her out of here.” Harvey throws the order at the security guard like he’s dismissing trash.

“Harvey, please.” Jenna’s voice cracks. “My dad is coming here in two days. I am doing this because I love you-”

‘Get her out of my sight now!”

His roar echoes across the driveway, and I feel him yank me back toward the house before Jenna can say another word. He’s moving too fast and I stumble trying to keep up.

‘Harvey, you’re pulling too hard-”

‘Shut up!” He growls, dragging me forward with one arm, and I don’t need to see his face to know how angry he is. The muscles in his back are enough with tense ropes.

My slipper gets stuck on the pavement and I yelp as I start to fall. Harvey stops, yanks me up, and before I can catch my breath, he’s throws me over his shoulder like I weigh nothing.

The moment he steps inside, the housekeepers scatter.

Sir” one of them starts.

Move.”

Sir, please be careful with ma’am-”

Get out of my way!” He’s growling now, even as I hit his back with my fists. I’m not hitting hard…I don’t want to hurt him…

Harvey, put me down!” I’m breathless, staring at the world upside down. My hair is falling in my face. My dress is bunched round my thighs. The housekeepers are backing away, hands over their mouths, and Winny is standing in the hallway with her eyes wide as dinner plates.

Someone do something!” I yell at them, but nobody moves. They just watch as Harvey carries me past the grand staircase, past the sitting room, past everything.

The elevator doors open and he steps inside. I’m still yelling, still trying to get him to put me down. He just stands there with me slung over his shoulder like a sack of flour while the elevator rises.

The doors open to my suite. He walks through the living room, past the sofa, p

nd finally drops me onto the

jed.

I bounce once, twice, and then I’m just lying there, staring at the ceiling, catching my breath
