“And…we made out.” I say, summarizing everything that happened between me and Harvey over the weekend without giving too much out. I think that’s what I’m doing. Being vague. – Definitely not telling her about the shower wall or the bed or the second time in the bed or-

“Okay…so.” Tinka stands in front of the fabric I’m trying to cut. “You looked Harvey in the eyes while he’s busy trying to burn half the city and said…oh no,” Tinka starts mimicking what’s definitely, can never be my voice.

“Harvey, don’t do that, come here and kiss me. Muah muah muah muah muah, take off your clothes, yeah give it to me…mafia daddy.”

I burst out laughing before looking at her horribly.

“Yeah, Jen. Take it.” She forms a voice that’s supposed to be Harvey and now I throw a spool of thread at her.

“He does not sound like that!”

“Yeah but you sound like that.” She winks and I want to end her.

“Enough of me. I hand the mic over to you. You and Nate, go…before I pull your hair.” I snap the scissors and her eyes blink at it before she starts blushing. Tinka. Blushing.

“OH MY GOD YOU’RE BLUSHING.”

“Am not!”

“Your cheeks are literally the color of that red silk over there. SPILL.”

“Where do I even start from?”

“Start from what made you guys bang each other?” I wink.

“Jennifer!”

“Tinka!”

“Okay. Okay.” She half sits on my table and looks up to the ceiling like that’s where all her answers will come from. Now she knows what it feels like to be put on the spot.

“We were having drinks…well after dealing with you and Harvey, you guys are literally our kids and I was worried…about you.” She puts her hand out at me. “I was worried that you wouldn’t be able to calm Harvey down and that you’d get annoyed yourself. I was just scared for both of you. I told Nate we should go back, Nate said we should give you guys some time. I allowed him to come into my apartment for just…a soda cause he didn’t look like he was okay. And then, somehow, Elio called us and told us the noise had stopped and then…we chuckled, talking about how you must have “calmed Harvey down.”

“No way you guys talk about that?”

“Add David…he impersonates Harvey so well, you wouldn’t believe it—”

“Back to you please…so what else happened?”

“Ugh! We talked and then…he comes and kisses me on the freaking couch!” She blurts it out and I let go of the scissors.

“What!”

“And then I kiss him back and then I’m taking off my clothes and we do it on the couch because it’s hard to let go of him to go to the bedroom.”

“WOW and…ew. Burn your couch.” I joke but I’m also leaning in because finally, details. Juicy details. “Wait wait wait…so he just…went for it?”

“He just went for it.” She fans herself. “One minute we’re talking bout you guys, the next minute his mouth is on mine and I forget my own name.”

“And?”

“And he’s really good. I mean…the best I’ve ever had. Plus, these my boys, something about their strength. Like they know exactly how to handle a body.”

“Right?” I widen my eyes at her cause she can relate. Finally, someone who gets it.

“There’s this thing he does with his hips-”

“Okay, now that’s too much info…”

Now I’m begging Tinka to stop.

“Well, you wanted to know.” She comes toward me and smacks me on the butt while I’m scrolling through Insta where there is the 100th video of Harvey on my feed today. The 100th. In the hours.

The News channel dropped the story about Prescott Holdings with a smoking hot picture of Harvey and the whole internet. lost its damn mind. Seeing a mafia hotcake as next heir for corporate got everybody shook and then it hit explore and ever since then? He’s been the only thing anybody’s talking about.

I open my mouth to scream but I remember where we are… Delaire, where we probably have a bunch of clients.

“Now, back to you.” She throws a magazine on the table. “Everyone and when I say everyone, I really mean everyone in the fucking Manhattan knows the name of Prescott’s new CEO. How does that make you feel?”

“How am I supposed to feel?” I squint for a moment when I look up.

“He confessed that he loves you. You confessed blah blah…we love that. But you’ve seen the internet girls talking about how hot he is. Honestly, good thing Harvey doesn’t have a social media. But bad thing is, they know the club he owns which means they’re gonna be flooding in.”

“Like you said, Harvey loves me. I trust him.” I smile and let go of my phone.

“Are you insane?” Tinka looks at me seriously.

“W-what?”

“Harvey is practically the next big fish in the damn city. And it just happens to have a catch on his freaking head.get married and automatically he is the owner of everything Presco. You guys should just-

“Marry!? Why would I marry Harvey because of his…riches? You know I’m not…I’ve never ever been that sort of person

“Yes. You already loved him before he got everything so I’m sure he wouldn’t feel like it’s because of that. So get married to him.”

“Tinka, it doesn’t work that way.”

I stare at her like she’s grown a second head. Marry Harvey. Like Just walk down the aisle and become Mrs. Prescot Jennifer Prescott. Jen Prescott. Mrs, Harvey Prescott.

“We just got back together. Like…days ago. We can’t just jump to marriage because some shareholders put a clause in a will

“Tinka.”

“And he said if you’d allow him… Harvey’s literally giving you a heads up that if you say go ahead, he’ll get down on both knees.”

“We’ve not even dated for a year.” I remind her.

“You guys

have been through worse than couples who have dated for a year. Yeah, you’ve not dated for a year but he’s loved you for four years and you’ve loved him too…different but you’ve loved him regardless. And now, what I would call the biggest shit hit your relation and the both of you managed to come out of it. That’s brilliant.” Tinka says and I bite my lip, thinking about how all of that is true.

I’ve known Harvey in the worst time of my life. My parents divorced, my stupid crush on Baxter that went nowhere, all those lonely nights and he’s been the one thing in my life that’s been constant. I never stopped thinking about him when he disappeared and now…no…marriage. That’s a real deep commitment. I don’t even want to think about it.

“Anyway, I’m sure you’re the only girl he has in his heart. The dude works at a club surrounded by half-naked women every night and he still picked you so.”

“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean!” I throw a fabric sample at her head.

Tinka raises her hand as if she meant nothing but she’s chuckling hard.

“I’m pretty and sexy…dare I say sexier than the girls at any casino in Manhattan.”

“Oh baby, is that what Harvey tells you? I’m gonna get you some coffee so we can reboot you.” She walks out of my office and my mouth is open at her insult.

“Do not come back here.” I say and get up.

I look at my phone and squint.

I want to call him. Ugh. Is this how easy it is to be a lover girl? Why is he not calling me…does he not miss me? Should I call

him?

I pick my phone again and stare at his name. Harvey. Hot, tattooed, CEO-to-be Harvey.

Hmm…you know what? Maybe I’ll just move into his home with him. I mean all of those perks he listed are mouth-watering deals and Harvey is just the cherry on top. At least then I know when I go back home I’d be coming to him. If I stay back at Ocean springs, he’d probably want to give me space and he’ll move out.

But moving in with him…no Baxter…just Elio the silent butler and my boyfriend and a pool and a hot tub and-

I should call. I’m chewing my lip and about to dial Harvey when Tinka bursts through the door so hard it slams against the wall.

“W-what.”

“Come out now!” She shrieks and I quickly rush out of the office to follow her. I see Tinka running toward the lounge area and I chase after her until she stops dead in front of the TV.

The news anchor is speaking in that urgent tone they use when something terrible has happened. The breaking news banner flashes across the bottom of the screen in bold red letters.
