Sleeping With the Wrong Man: Uncle vs. Nephew novel Chapter 38

Chapter 38

Then, Charles casually glanced out the window, through which he saw a locally-made car worth less than 100 thousand dollars parked in a parking lot by the side of the road.

Deep down, an impression was formed.

“Ms. Wade, am I right? My name is Charles Hewitt. Which units are you interested in? I will take you there.”

Liana was not bothered by the subtle change in his attitude. Instead, she specified, without hesitation, the unit that caught her eye.

It was a commercial lot located next to the main street in the city center. It was two storeys in total, and its size and layout were well-suited to a legal office.

Upon hearing the address, Charles raised a brow, amused.

Liana had good taste, choosing the most expensive unit to inspect. He just couldn’t be sure if she could afford to purchase the unit.

He led Liana to the unit and opened the door with a key.

“Here we go. This is the unit.”

He pointed lazily into the unit, not even bothering to give Liana a tour. Thereafter, he leaned against the door and began swiping on his phone attending to his own matters. “Help yourself.”

Liana knitted her brows together. She walked into the unit and inspected it carefully.

The location was superb. Foot traffic was high, and the interior was intricately designed. No major work was really needed before she went straight into using the place.

She was very satisfied.

She walked to the door, her eyes fixed on the real estate agent who was swiping on his phone with his head down. She inquired, “How much is the monthly rental for this unit? What would the total price be if I were to purchase it right away?”

Charles uttered a sum without even lifting his head. Whether he quoted the rental amount or the sale price, it was much higher than the market price.

Liana, well aware of what she was doing, asked, “The fire safety facilities here look rather dated. Will the property management be responsible for replacing them? Also, does the upstairs waterproofing have to be redone?”

Her series of professional questions prompted Charles to look up with a rather annoyed look

on his face. He twitched the corners of his lips and answered, “These are minor issues if you truly intend to discuss this transaction with us, Ms. Wade.

“But if you can’t afford it, don’t bother with all the questions. You’re just wasting everyone’s

time.”

Liana’s face dropped. Charles was genuinely looking down on her, feeling like she was a poor woman who simply came to browse the place for fun.

Liana studied the condescending look on Charles’ face. Instantly, she lost all interest in this

commercial unit.

“Since this is the case, I shall not bother you,” she replied coldly.

Then, she added, “I will have a look elsewhere on my own.”

Upon saying that, she turned around to leave, leaving Charles dumbfounded momentarily, surprised at how readily she left.
