Chapter 35
Logan froze in his tracks. He turned back and took a quick look at Olivia, who was grabbing tightly onto him with a terrified look on her face. Then, he looked briefly toward the side of the road, where a cab happened to come to a stop
Liana opened the car door and got into the cab without even looking back.
The yellow vehicle soon joined the flow of traffic and disappeared from Logan’s line of sight.
Logan stood at the same spot, fixated ahead where the car had long vanished. He felt as if a piece of his heart had been hollowed out, and an unprecedented sense of emptiness consumed him instantly.
Olivia caught sight of the disappointment and dazedness that appeared briefly in his eyes. Resentment flashed across her eyes.
Liana, that bitch! She was getting smarter with her game. She actually knew how to play hard- to-get to string Logan along and make him go back to her.
In her dreams!
After returning to the cream-colored villa, Logan plopped himself down onto the couch in the living room without saying a word. He tugged at his necktie; annoyance was evident on his face.
What Liana said about him raising someone else’s son was like a thorn in his flesh, making him extremely uneasy.
Olivia poured a glass of warm water and presented it to him meekly. He accepted the glass of water from her but did not drink from it.
With a grim look on his face, he simply asked, “Is Marc already asleep?”
Olivia paused slightly. Right after that, she smiled and nodded. “Yeah. He fell asleep a long while ago. He’s exhausted from all the fun he had today.”
However, Logan was not paying attention.
The night before Olivia was to marry Zayn three years ago, Logan had a huge fight with her. He had too much to drink at the time, so he could not quite remember what followed. He could only vaguely remember everything being a mess and there was a soft, warm touch. When he woke up the next day, Olivia was already gone. She only left him a note, wishing him well. Following that, she married into the Lynch family and cut off all contact with him.

Then, two months ago, she suddenly showed up in front of him with a child approximately two years of age, crying as she told him that Marcus was actually his son.
He was extremely shocked at the time. That said he also sympathized with her because of all the misery she experienced in the Lynch family. As regret filled his entire heart, he never
doubted her claims.
But now that Liana mentioned it… Once the seed of suspicion was planted, it began to take root and sprout rapidly.
Logan sprung up from the couch. “I’d like to go upstairs and check up on Marc.”
The look on Olivia’s face and her gaze shifted subtly and hastily within a few seconds. Her vision went dark, and she fell limply backward right onto the couch as she let out a gasp.
“Lia!”
Utterly frightened, Logan’s train of thought was instantly disrupted. He turned around immediately and rushed to the couch to check up on Olivia.
Amidst his anxious voice calling out to her, Olivia opened her bleary eyes and put a hand on her forehead. In a weak voice, she said, “I-I’m fine. My head just hurts really badly, and my head is spinning…’
Heartache and remorse swept over Logan in an instant as he stared at her face, which was as white as a sheet.
She continued acting weak, grabbing onto his arm and welling up once again. “I’m fine, Logie. It’s just that I haven’t had a single good night’s sleep over the last three years of living with the Lynches.
“When I just gave birth to Marc, he always cried at night. The only thing I could do was to hold him all night, nurse him, and rock him to sleep… Now that I finally managed to return to your side, I—” she choked, unable to finish her sentence.
Logan’s heartache intensified as he listened to Olivia rant about how difficult life had been for her over the last three years.
She spent three years in the Lynch family’s brutal household, treading on thin ice and staying up to raise their child, all for his and Marcus’ sakes.
Yet, he actually just harbored suspicions that Marcus wasn’t his biological son!
