Sorry I'm Mated To The Commander novel Chapter 191

Chapter 191

Chapter 191

“You’re overthinking it, Tomas. We all work for Prince Krish now, so of course, we’ve got to look out for him.”

She just smiled and kept quiet.

Romeo and the others quickly changed the subject, chatted for a bit, and then headed out.

Layla and her crew didn’t pick up anything useful from their end either.

But she knew Xanthe was way too cautious to let anything slip that easily.

She’d just have Zee keep an eye on Xanthe for now.

As the exams and the wedding date got closer, there was still no news from Daniel.

Weston hadn’t sent any news either.

These past few days, November had been secretly digging into the Holy Gate, all while working on his powers.

He also had to stay on top of the wedding plans.

Layla noticed she was getting tired way too easily these days and couldn’t stop yawning.

Even though she’d woken up at nine this morning, she was already feeling sleepy again.

Atlas saw her eyes looking misty and pulled her into his arms. “Layla, why don’t you just stay home and rest today? I’ll call the school for you.”

“I don’t have any classes this afternoon,” Layla said.

“Then just take it easy at home,” Atlas replied.

“Then I’ll just work on my mech suit final project at home,” Layla said.

“Alright.” Atlas nodded.

Honestly, Atlas wasn’t keen on heading out either, but his mom had just called. He had to go to the royal palace to talk about wedding details.

On top of that, every day he carved out time to hit up Andrew’s lab and work on mastering his abilities.

His powers going haywire had nearly hurt Layla more than once.

Atlas didn’t mess around with this. He put it at the very top of his list.

“Oh, by the way, Layla, Zee’s been filming the Crown Squad nonstop these days. If you ever feel bored, just watch the videos at home to kill some time,” Atlas said.

“Alright,” Layla replied.

Atlas really didn’t want to leave. He hugged Layla tight, kissing her for what felt like forever, before finally forcing himself to

Just as Layla was about to head down to the basement to work on her mech suit, her phone buzzed. It was Bruce, asking if she wanted to swing by the Wastelands-9 Orphan Core.

Layla stared at the message for a few seconds and then finally replied.

Chapter 191

After that, she had Zaa send a message to Zee, letting Atlas know she was heading to Wastelands-9 Orphan Core.

Layla hopped off her aero-vehicle at the Wastelands-9 Orphan Core, and the second she stepped into the yard, something just didn’t feel right.

Normally, as soon as she showed up, all the little kids would come running out to greet her.

But today, the whole place was dead silent.

The swings, usually packed with kids, were totally empty, not a single kid around.

Layla suddenly realized something was seriously wrong. She should’ve just turned and run.

But she couldn’t help worrying about everyone there. Besides Celia and the kids, Evelyn, Rosa, and Lynn were all here.

She pulled out her whip with her left hand and gripped the mech suit activation button with her right, then walked inside.

Layla pushed open the main door. The place was usually packed, but today there was just one person sitting in the hall.

The guy looked to be in his thirties or forties. His eyes were gentle, his face calm. He looked totally harmless.

Layla stared at the familiar face, her whip and mech suit button still gripped tight. She kept her cool and called out, “Dad.”

Daniel gazed at his daughter with gentle eyes, admiration shining in his look.

“Layla, you’re even more impressive than I ever imagined,” he said.

Layla replied coolly, “But you’re not as great as I expected.”

Daniel’s expression faltered. He glanced at the weapons in Layla’s hands and sighed, sounding helpless, “Layla, I really don’t want to push you, but my hands are tied. I’ve already sent everyone somewhere safe.”

Layla didn’t say a word.

Daniel’s voice grew tense. “Layla, if Atlas finds out the truth about you, would he still marry you?”

Layla replied coolly, “He already knows.”

Daniel froze. “What? You told him? Have you lost your mind? Come with me now. If you don’t, it’ll be too late.”

Just as he finished speaking, a sudden roar of aero-vehicles came from outside,

From the sound of it, there had to be at least dozens of them out there.

Daniel’s expression shifted, and he shot Layla a shocked look,

Layla’s danger radar went off instantly. She grabbed Daniel and dragged him straight to the study.

Before Daniel could even ask, Layla said, “Those aren’t Atlas’s people out there.”

“How can you be so sure?” Daniel asked.

“Call it a hunch,” Layla replied.

Just as Layla finished speaking, a barrage of energy cannons erupted outside. Celia’s garden, usually so neat and peaceful, was obliterated in seconds.

The whole house started shaking violently, rumbling so hard that it felt like it could come crashing down any second.

Chapter 191

Layla grabbed Daniel and rushed into the hidden passage in the study, shutting the door tight behind them.

“Is there anyone else here?” Layla asked.

“Nope,” Daniel said.

Layla relaxed a bit when she heard that. She stopped hesitating and headed on.

Layla and Daniel kept moving, not even sure how long they’d been at it, but finally, the explosions and shaking started to fade.

It also meant they were finally clear of Wastelands-9 Orphan Core.
