Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 113

Lily's poisonous words completely shattered Summer's restraint.

Summer could tolerate Lily bullying and insulting her. She could force a smile and brush it off.

But Lily had crossed a fatal line. She had targeted her parents. Even a mere verbal threat against them was unforgivable!

Summer grabbed her coffee cup and hurled it with all her might. "Get the hell out!"

"Ah!"

Lily shrieked, but the cup didn't hit her. It crashed right into Xavier.

Xavier had stopped walking when he realized Lily wasn't following him, which allowed him to step in and shield her at the last second.

The remaining coffee splashed entirely across Xavier's expensive clothes.

He didn't even glance at the stain. Instead, he immediately turned to Lily, checking frantically to ensure she was unharmed.

Summer watched the display with deadened eyes. Logically, she knew she should feel nothing, and in a way, she didn't.

But emotionally, even though her heart had long turned to ash, seeing this scumbag and his mistress flaunt their twisted devotion right in front of her still made her sick to her stomach.

Once Xavier confirmed Lily was fine, he leveled a murderous glare at Summer.

He had let her slide earlier, assuming she was just stressed about her parents' surgery.

But he hadn't expected her to push her luck like this!

"Summer, apologize to Lily."

His heartless voice was laced with ice, every syllable designed to make her tremble with fury.

Furious and stubborn, Summer gritted her teeth. "She deserved it! She's a bitch!"

Xavier's thin lips parted, his voice terrifyingly calm. "Summer, do you never want to see Leo again?"

Right. Leo was still in Xavier's clutches.

Summer bit her lip, refusing to speak. Her eyes burned red, and her fists clenched so tightly her knuckles turned a bloodless white.

Xavier pulled out his phone. He was really going to make the call.

Leo was only five. If he was shipped off to a foreign country where he knew no one and didn't speak the language, how would he survive without his family?

Summer's eyes turned a desperate, bloodshot red as tears blurred her vision. But she stubbornly refused to let them fall. Finally, her iron grip on her fists loosened. "Fine. I apologize!"

As soon as the words left her mouth, a smug smirk crept onto Lily's lips.

Summer took a sharp breath, bowed deeply toward Lily, and screamed at the top of her lungs, "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have called you a homewrecker or a bitch! I'll be more polite from now on. I'll call you my husband's mistress, or his side piece! Which one do you prefer? I'm happy to accommodate you!"

Lily's smirk shattered, her face turning a furious shade of purple. "Summer!"

Summer didn't stop. She continued to scream for the whole hallway to hear. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have thrown a cup at you just because you cursed my parents to die from post-op infections and a failed surgery! I'm sorry!"

The tears finally broke free. Summer wildly swiped at her face, her eyes raw and inflamed. Her voice cracked into desperate, hysterical sobs as she wailed, "I should have been more generous! I should have stepped down voluntarily and divorced my husband so you could have the title of Mrs. Sterling without needing to remind me! Please don't be mad!"

With that, Summer dramatically collapsed to the floor.

She crumpled in front of Lily, breaking down completely, crying out frantically, before turning her hysterical sobs toward Xavier, wailing loudly.
