Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 137

Summer didn't even want to engage with them. She called out to Jude and walked straight past the group as if they didn't exist. Her posture remained impeccably calm, leaving only the faint scent of ebony wood and agarwood in the air.

Xavier's eyes darkened. He watched Summer intently, waiting to see what new stunt she was going to pull to get his attention.

Get his attention?

If Summer knew he was thinking that, she would have laughed in his face.

A second later, Summer stopped right outside Harrison Banks's private lounge.

Lily raised an eyebrow. "What is she doing stopping in front of Mr. Banks's lounge?"

Julian realized something and let out a mocking laugh. "Well, it is Mr. Banks, after all. Who wouldn't want his favor? You guys didn't see this, but during the conference earlier, Summer actually tried to cozy up to him and say hi. And guess what happened?"

Just from the gloating, insufferable tone of Julian's voice, the answer was obvious.

Still, Lily played along and asked, "What happened?"

Julian exaggerated his tone. "Mr. Banks flat out scowled and completely ignored her! Some people just don't know their place. Total delusions of grandeur."

Lily let out a small laugh, covering her mouth. The bitter resentment she'd felt over being rejected by Harrison instantly evaporated.

Even though Mr. Banks had turned her down, he had at least been incredibly warm and polite to her. It seemed he really did appreciate her talent.

He was an industry titan, after all. Naturally, he needed time to observe and test her.

As long as she kept performing well and remained persistent, Mr. Banks would definitely take her on as a student eventually.

With Summer serving as a pathetic contrast, Lily instantly regained her confidence, and her mood lifted immensely.

She wasn't even in a rush to go into Xavier's lounge anymore. She wanted to stand right there and watch Summer make a total fool of herself.

Summer knew exactly what that group of idiots was thinking, but she didn't care, nor did she want to bother explaining. She stepped up and knocked on the door.

Click.

The door opened, revealing a bodyguard.

Xavier wasn't entirely sure what was going on either, but he remained far calmer than the other two. He turned and swiped his keycard to open his own lounge door. "Come inside."

Meanwhile, inside Harrison's lounge.

Harrison scowled. "You little punk, did you eat gunpowder for breakfast?"

Jude strutted over and threw himself onto the sofa. "Old man, I actually have to praise you today. You didn't give that home-wrecker a single drop of courtesy. Great job. Keep it up."

Harrison snatched a throw pillow beside him and hurled it at Jude, who caught it with a cheeky grin. "Calm down, calm down! You're getting up there in years, and you barely have any hair left as it is!"

Harrison had a deep love-hate relationship with his wild, utterly unmanageable youngest student. He practically puffed out his mustache in exasperation.

Summer quickly poured Harrison a cup of tea.

Harrison looked at the tea, silently took it, and took a sip. Seeing Summer step back to stand quietly, he spoke up.

"Did I tell you to stand in the corner?" Harrison snapped. "What, do I have to officially invite you to take a seat?"
