Summer shook her head, obediently taking a seat. "Professor."
Harrison snorted, his tone dripping with displeasure. "I thought you'd forgotten how to even greet people."
"I'm sorry, Professor." Summer lowered her head, her eyes turning red.
He had heard everything Jude said outside, and seeing Summer's reaction now confirmed his suspicions.
Harrison ran his thumb along the rim of his teacup. Since things had already reached this point, what mattered now was how she handled it.
If his student still couldn't think clearly, there was nothing he could do for her.
His tone was incredibly calm, exactly as if they were discussing a research paper. "Tell me your thoughts."
Summer gathered her emotions and spoke clearly. "I am divorcing him. I've hired a lawyer, gathered evidence of his infidelity, and filed a formal lawsuit with the court."
"Who gets my son?" Jude blurted out.
Harrison had been nodding in approval, but that made him jump. He snapped his head toward Jude. "Explain yourself. Since when do you have a son?"
Seeing Harrison's deadly serious expression, Jude offered a carefree grin. "Relax, I just became the godfather to Summer's boy."
Mentioning Leo immediately sparked Jude's enthusiasm. He threw an arm around Harrison's shoulders like they were old frat buddies. "Listen, old man, Summer's kid is incredible. He literally rejected his billionaire dad without a second thought and straight-up called him 'mister' to his face. How could I let a cool, well-behaved kid like that go without a dad to spoil him? So I volunteered to step up as his dad. Old man, tell me that wasn't a solid move."
Jude's eyebrows danced, looking like a teenager radiating pure, victorious pride.
Harrison let out a fond, exasperated chuckle. "You little punk."
Then he turned back to Summer, his tone shifting into the exact same voice he used to praise an excellent thesis. "You made the right call regarding the divorce! Marriage would only drag you down. Call me if you need anything."
Summer nodded. "Thank you, Professor."
"Are you working at your senior's company now?" Otherwise, she wouldn't have come to the conference with Jude.
Only then did he discover that Jude Montgomery was the exact same rebellious junior student Harrison had been complaining about.
Julian felt like the entire universe was glitching out. He still couldn't believe it. "How is that even possible? That kid looks like he hasn't even graduated college, and he has dyed blonde hair! How could Mr. Banks accept someone like that, but reject someone as outstanding as Lily? Are his eyes broken or something?"
Even though Lily knew Julian was trying to defend her, hearing him casually bring up her rejection again felt like a fresh slap to the face.
It was like dragging her corpse out for a public flogging.
Lily felt a sickening knot in her stomach and stayed completely silent.
Completely oblivious to her irritation, Julian assumed she was just upset about the mentorship failing.
He kindly tried to console her. "Lily, good things take time. You're so talented. Mr. Banks will definitely say yes one day."
Lily had genuinely believed that earlier, but the horrible realization was that the blonde punk was Harrison's student.
