Speaking of that, Jude suddenly remembered crossing paths with Xavier's car on the way over.
Through the windshield, he had seen Xavier and Lily sitting in the backseat.
That home-wrecker Lily had been curled up right in Xavier's arms. The two of them had looked sickeningly intimate.
Thinking of this, Jude scoffed. "Dad Gavin is right. From now on, whoever wants that Sterling bastard can have him. We don't want him anyway. He's dirty."
Leo nodded. "Don't worry, Cool Dad. I would never acknowledge a piece of trash as my father. My dad needs to be handsome and smart, just like you!"
Jude planted a huge kiss on Leo's cheek. "That's my good boy. Let that Sterling jerk regret it for the rest of his life!"
Hearing the insults thrown at Xavier brought Yates's mind back to the scene at the village entrance.
Didn't Xavier look down on him for being an outsider?
Then he would just become the father of Xavier's son!
He would make Xavier's own flesh and blood call him, the outsider, 'Dad'!
Leo's little face looked so much like Xavier's. Having Leo call him Dad was practically the same as Xavier calling him Dad.
It was a childish thought, but it brought an undeniable rush of satisfaction to Yates's chest.
With that in mind, Yates chimed in, "Leo, would you mind having one more dad to love you?"
"Huh?" Leo stared at Yates, utterly dumbfounded. After all, this was the very first time they had met.
Yates continued, "If anyone ever tries to bully you and your mom, wouldn't three dads be even more powerful than two?"
Leo genuinely started to consider the logic.
But then he remembered his mother's advice and hesitated. "Mom said I can't just randomly accept dads. If you aren't married and suddenly have a son, you won't be able to find girlfriends or get married later on."
Gavin ruffled the boy's hair. "Dad Gavin is married to his tech company. My company can't have babies, so if it knows I have a son, it will definitely be happy for me."
"Really?" Leo asked earnestly.
Gavin nodded with total sincerity.
It wasn't until Tessa asked her what was going on that she snapped out of it, shrugging helplessly to signal she had no idea.
Sebastian Stone had gone into town earlier to run some errands for Summer. He walked in, dusting off the snow, arriving just in time to witness the bizarre scene.
"Leo is such a good kid, no one could dislike him. I like him a lot too."
Tessa caught a subtle undertone in his voice and eyed him. "What are you trying to do?"
Sebastian smirked. "How about you step down from being Leo's aunt and just be his sister?"
Tessa stared blankly. "What? Are you trying to make my best friend my relative?"
Summer rubbed her temples. "Sebastian, stop messing around."
**
Edward Vance had been a teacher his entire life. He was a kind, generous man who loved helping others, and all the locals from the surrounding villages had come to see him off.
The moment Edward was finally laid to rest, Summer stood at the edge of the grave, a suffocating wave of despair crashing over her. The pain pierced her heart like a physical blade.
