Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 163

Her eyes were completely red, yet she didn't shed a single tear.

Just as Edward was being buried, Beulah Vance arrived at Summer's family home with Tiffany Miller, Tiffany's father, and a strange little boy.

At that moment, the only people left at the house were a few elderly neighbors with limited mobility, a couple of helpers, and Maeve, who was bedridden.

Dragging the little boy along, Beulah loudly proclaimed he was Edward's illegitimate son. She cornered Maeve, demanding she hand over the bank accounts and transfer the property deed into the boy's name.

When Maeve refused, Beulah and her group produced a piece of paper, trying to forcefully press Maeve's thumbprint onto it while tearing the house apart looking for the bank books and property deeds.

Maeve couldn't move. She was so furious she almost passed out from sobbing.

One of the helpers quickly ran up the hill to get Summer.

By the time Summer rushed back to the house, the helpers and neighbors had blocked Beulah's group at the main gate, refusing to let them leave.

The two sides were locked in a tense standoff. Beulah began screaming like a maniac, "Geneva, this is none of your business! Stop sticking your nose where it doesn't belong and get out of the way! Or I'll spill all the dirty details about you sneaking around with other men!"

"You old hag, your mouth is full of garbage! If anyone is sneaking around, it's probably you! Where did this boy even come from? Is he your own illegitimate brat?!"

"You shameless tramp, you're spouting nonsense and spitting poison! I'm an old woman with one foot in the grave, and you have the nerve to slander me? You just wait! I'm going straight to your family's cemetery and crying out every dirty secret of yours to your ancestors! Now get out of my way!"

Summer had just reached the front gate, a massive crowd trailing fiercely behind her.

Realizing she couldn't escape, Beulah gritted her teeth in a rage. Catching Geneva off guard, she lunged forward and viciously scratched her face.

Several bloody lines immediately welled up on Geneva's cheek.

"You wicked old bat!" Geneva raised her hand and brought it down hard.

*Smack!*

Geneva worked in the fields year-round and possessed incredible strength. The slap sent Beulah crashing to the ground, knocking one of her teeth loose.

Summer gently rubbed Maeve's back. "Mom, don't panic. I'll handle this."

Tessa chimed in to comfort her. "Auntie, we're back now. Don't worry. My friend here is a top lawyer; he definitely won't let them get away with this."

Summer turned to Tessa. "Tessa, please keep an eye on my mom for a bit. I'm going out to deal with those animals!"

Once Maeve was settled, Summer marched out of the bedroom.

Fearing things would escalate into violence, the village chief stepped in and moved everyone into the main hall.

"Where are my mother's bank accounts and the property deed? Hand them over." Summer's voice was deathly cold, her bloodshot eyes radiating an intense, predatory fury.

"Why should I? They belong to my grandson." Beulah glared fiercely at Summer. "All of this should be left to my grandson."

Beulah shoved the boy forward. "Let me tell you, this is the son my Edward fathered outside. That jealous Maeve couldn't lay an egg of her own, and she refused to let my son bring this boy home to acknowledge his ancestors. I'm stepping up to bring him back. Everything my son owned belongs to him!"
