Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 170

Earlier, the little boy had said his name was Leo Vance. Did that mean his mother's last name was Vance?

He needed to tell Great-Grandpa Alaric this massive news immediately.

The shock of joy would definitely cure the old man's illness instantly.

"Are you serious? You better not be messing with us."

"I have to admit, he does have your eyes. When he grows up, he's going to be breaking hearts left and right."

"Forget growing up, he's a heartbreaker right now. Oh my, the more I look at him, the more I adore him."

"Wait a minute, why is it just the kid? Where's the mother? Why didn't you bring her back too?"

"Silas Sinclair, our family doesn't do the whole 'take the child, ditch the mother' routine!"

"Exactly. If you dare play the scumbag, we won't even need Great-Grandpa to step in. We'll break your legs ourselves and make sure you behave."

Silas stared at them in silence.

Leo stared at them in silence.

Silas kicked them out with a sharp, cold command. "Everyone, get out. Stop interfering with Dr. Quinn. Leo is sick and needs a quiet environment."

Once everyone had finally been shooed out and Dr. Quinn had finished his exam and left, Silas sat on the edge of the bed, tucking the blankets securely around Leo.

"Leo, how would you like to make me your dad? If you look Xavier Sterling right in the eye and call me Dad, he will probably explode from anger."

"Really?" Leo's eyes lit up.

During the drive over, Silas had gotten the gist of why Leo had claimed Jude Montgomery as his Cool Dad.

It was entirely to piss off his scumbag biological father.

Silas nodded. "Absolutely. The Sinclair family and the Sterling family are bitter rivals. We despise each other. I am Xavier's ultimate archenemy. What could possibly piss him off more than his own son calling his worst enemy 'Dad'?"

Leo nodded with absolute determination. "I'm in!"

But a second later, he remembered his mother's warning and hesitated. "Mr. Sinclair, are you married? If I become your son, what happens if no ladies want to marry you?"

Silas chuckled and ruffled the boy's hair. "Perfect timing, actually. I have absolutely zero interest in getting married. Having you as a son will save me from a mountain of annoying blind dates. Consider it doing me a huge favor."

"Um," Leo paused, suddenly sheepish. "Mr. Sinclair, I already have two other dads."

"Oh?"

"I have Dad Gavin and Dad Yates. You don't mind, do you?"

He stayed in the bedroom the entire time, keeping watch over Leo while working quietly on his laptop to escape the chaos downstairs.

When Leo woke up, he sat up groggily, rubbing his eyes with his little fists. A tuft of hair stuck straight up on his head, making him look adorably clueless. He didn't cry or fuss; he was perfectly well-behaved.

Silas set his laptop aside, walked over, and naturally pressed the back of his hand against Leo's forehead.

Leo had been running a low fever earlier, but after Dr. Quinn's injection, he was no longer burning up. The fever had broken.

Silas poured a glass of warm water and held it to Leo's lips. "Here, drink some water."

"Thank you, Mr.—" Leo caught himself and corrected, "Thank you, Dad. I can hold it."

Hearing a kid call him Dad for the very first time sent a strange jolt through Silas's chest. It felt a little bizarre, but he didn't hate it at all.

After finishing the water, Leo finally realized he was wearing different clothes.

He had sweated through his clothes while breaking the fever, and Silas had worried that sleeping in wet clothes would make the cold worse.

He had called one of the maids in to help change Leo's clothes.

Watching her do it, Silas figured he could easily handle it next time. He wouldn't need any help from the staff.
