Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 169

The designated driver didn't know anything else. Xavier didn't say another word, turned on his heel, and walked away, leaving his assistant Paige Brooks to handle the aftermath.

The moment Xavier got into the car, he pulled out his phone and dialed Summer's number.

Unsurprisingly, he was blocked. The call wouldn't go through.

Xavier tapped the back of the passenger seat. "Derek. Phone."

Derek Brooks handed his phone over. Xavier dialed Summer's number again.

It rang twice before it connected. Xavier's voice was a strict, authoritative command: "Summer, send Leo back to the estate."

Summer scoffed. "What gives you the right to order me around?"

Xavier was thoroughly accustomed to holding all the power. He despised having his authority challenged, especially by Summer.

He leaned back against the leather seat, his mood foul. He reached up and loosened his tie, speaking with a slow, methodical calm. "Summer, how is your mother holding up? I heard you're trying to get Dr. Whitmore to treat her?"

"What are you planning?"

Summer's voice instantly turned sharp, losing all of its previous calm detachment. A smirk touched Xavier's lips as he crossed his long legs, settling even deeper into his relaxed posture.

His voice returned to its usual unbothered tone. "Send Leo back."

Summer gritted her teeth. "In your dreams!"

Xavier let out a soft chuckle. "I forgot to mention. The Sterling and Whitmore families go way back."

They go way back?

Summer had never known that.

But it wasn't surprising. Since the Sterling family had never acknowledged Summer's status, they obviously hadn't introduced her to any of their powerful connections.

"You are absolutely sickening. One day, I am going to make you regret everything!"

Summer hung up on him.

Xavier's expression didn't shift even after being cursed out. He handed the phone back to Derek.

Derek took the phone, clearly confused. "Boss, why are you so set on bringing the young master back? Don't you still have Hunter? And Lily is due in a few months anyway."

"Leo's last name is still Sterling. Grandpa spent years grooming him; he won't let him go easily." Beyond that, Xavier kept the real reason to himself: as long as he controlled Leo, Summer would have to obey him.

"Will she actually bring him back?"

"She will."

Summer was deeply devoted to her family. As long as Maeve's health was on the line, Summer would dutifully return the boy.

While Xavier and Summer were on the phone, Silas brought Leo back to Sinclair Manor.

First, the Sinclair family gathering was still in full swing.

"We've been hounding him to get married and have kids, and he actually went out and brought one back!"

Silas gave a brief, generic greeting to the room before carrying Leo straight upstairs to his bedroom.

Dr. Quinn followed closely behind with his medical kit.

And behind Dr. Quinn was a massive herd of nosy Sinclair relatives.

Silas's bedroom was sprawling, but with everyone flooding in, it was instantly packed to the brim.

"Silas, whose kid is this?"

"Yeah, whose is he? Those eyes, that nose... he's so handsome!"

The aunts and uncles were all talking over each other. Within seconds, the bedroom sounded like a chaotic fish market. How was Dr. Quinn supposed to examine his patient?

How was the patient supposed to rest?

To shut everyone up, Silas declared, "Mine."

"My son, Leo Sinclair."

Leo glanced at Silas but didn't say a word.

The butler stood off to the side, smiling knowingly. *Just as I suspected. The young master is sir's child.*
