Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 183

Summer raised an eyebrow mockingly. "Then why isn't he using you? Because you have zero value. You know what has zero value? The kind of trash that even the dumpsters would spit back out."

Lily, trying to maintain her delicate image, could only grit her teeth and demand, "Summer, apologize to me right now!"

But the moment the insult left her lips, Summer efficiently slid into the driver's seat. She wasn't an idiot—she wasn't going to stand there and wait for Xavier to explode.

She started the engine and slammed on the gas, ready to make a quick getaway.

As the car rolled past the group, Summer purposefully rolled down her window and shouted, "You threw yourself in my path begging to be insulted, and I was nice enough to oblige! If you're not going to thank me, fine, but demanding an apology? Wildflower Lily, you have absolutely no shame!"

Lily and the rest of the group choked on her exhaust fumes, their faces turning a spectacular shade of ugly.

Except for Wesley.

Wesley actually thought Summer had a lot of personality.

Just then, Xavier's phone rang.

"A court summons? What court summons? ...A summons for a divorce lawsuit?"

Lily and Wesley simultaneously turned to look at Xavier, utter shock written across their faces.

Xavier hung up the phone and opened his messages. His assistant, Paige Brooks, had already sent him a photo of the summons.

Summer had actually filed for divorce in court!!

Xavier's expression turned to ice. He pulled up Summer's contact, about to call her, but froze, remembering she had blocked his number.

He spun around and stalked toward his car, tossing an order over his shoulder. "Wesley, do me a favor and take Lily home. I'm going after Summer."

Meanwhile, Summer's car was stuck at the exit of the underground garage. The guy in the car ahead of her was taking forever to pay the toll.

Xavier's car caught up.

Seeing the traffic jam ahead, a bodyguard, taking Xavier's signal, marched over to Summer's car and pounded heavily on her window.

"Ms. Vance, Mr. Sterling would like you to come over for a chat."

Assuming Xavier wanted to chew her out, Summer naturally ignored him.

Turning her head to watch the bleak city streets blur past, she said coldly, "I'm not going to apologize, so don't even hold your breath."

"Summer, you filed a divorce lawsuit with the court."

Summer turned back to Xavier, her eyes sparkling with genuine delight. "You got the summons? Thank God, it finally got delivered."

Her excitement didn't look faked. She genuinely wanted this divorce.

But how was that possible?

Wasn't she madly in love with him?

Wasn't she just asking for a divorce to get his attention? Because she was jealous?

Xavier demanded in a low, dangerous voice, "Why do you want a divorce? Just to throw a tantrum because you're jealous?"

"Hah," Summer let out a mocking scoff. "Don't flatter yourself. I actually want a divorce. As for why? Do you really have to ask? You and Lily have been parading around like a pair of lovesick animals. I've been wearing a giant neon sign of betrayal on my forehead, and you still have the nerve to ask me why?"
